I'm curious what the many creatives who work on the film think of this stuff being used to promote it.

"None of this happens in the movie," wrote one reader on A24's Instagram post. "I don't understand this campaign. U are selling a movie that doesn't exist and it's very bizarre. I love a24 with all my heart but i am so bloody confused about what happened with this film."

The other potential issue is the images are AI generated, resulting in some notable geographic and landmark mistakes and a bit of "uncanny valley" weirdness. For instance, the two Marina Towers buildings in Chicago are on opposite sides of the river in the poster instead of being on the same side. While a shot of wreckage in Miami shows a car with three doors. Some think the giant swan is in a Los Angeles lake is likewise an AI fail, but that's probably meant to be a paddleboat - though it doesn't quite look like a paddleboat, either.

A source close to the movie said the images help imagine the nationwide impact of the film's fictional war. "These are AI images inspired by the movie," a source said. "To clarify, they aren't movie posters, just images for Instagram. The entire movie is a big WHAT IF and so we wanted to continue that thought on social - powerful imagery of iconic landmarks with that dystopian realism."

Even if they're just for Instagram, this probably wasn't the best idea

no, actually, they're not. they're completely random tripe

Pay every artist a dividend from the proceeds of the movie.

It is only fair when a 5 second part of the movie being in a youtube video can lead to a copyright claim.

Those are so fucking generic, I can't even tell exactly what they're supposed to be about. It doesn't invoke a sense of wonder in me - just apathy. AI art is just so soulless.

This comes across pretty clearly in the pictures. It's weird that they did this but it's just a throwaway social media campaign. Hardly time to get out the pitchforks. This is just twitter being intentionally dense again.

I bet these were done to rile people up to generate discussion about the movie. Theres no way somebody looked at that and said it looked good
