I liked the first DL a lot for sure. The aesthetics of Dead Island are more my thing, though. Im torn.

I prefer Dying Light 2 it's got a lot more to do. Dead Island 2 is a one and done game really and even with all the DLC it's like 15-20 hours

Dead Island 2 was a far better experience to me than Dying Light 2. DL2 is an extreme disappointment where they took all the wrong ideas from the first one and amplified them. It turned the world into a generic by the numbers open world which irritated me to no end. Dead Island 2 was fun to just kill zombies in. No more no less. I beat DI2 and did not beat DL2.

For reference I loved DL1. The decision to make nighttime a pain in the ass and force you into stealth sneaky sections was obnoxious after doing it a million times. It felt like the game was actively against you just having fun with it.

Didn't help that the last gen versions of Dying Light 2 were a bait and switch that barely functioned. The PS4 was so riddled with glitches it would just fail itself constantly.

Dead Island 2 if you just want to take out zombies.

Dying Light 2 if you want to run around the city, run up walls, paraglide off roofs, hookshot around, hardcore parkour, use the hookshot on zombies and say "get over here!" as you slice their heads off with your katana while they're being pulled towards you, taking out zombies.

I've played neither sequel, however absolutely Dying Light > Dead Island

I'd never even played a parkour game before, however parkour + zombies + Middle Eastern setting is such an amazing combination.

Its honestly pretty neck and neck.
