I thought they were going to keep games after dumping movies. I was going to preorder Paper Mario TTYD from them since I always got my stuff on release day through BB (as opposed to Amazon, which always seems to take a week or longer after the game comes out), but the only option is for shipping and further digging on the site looks like (at least) my local store doesn't have ANY options to pick up ANY Switch games in-store.

God dammit Best Buy, this was literally the only reason I still shopped from you at all. Don't even act like there isn't a Target next door.

I havent been to a Best Buy in a while so idk. Even then I usually go to GameStop for physical disc.

I went to a Best Buy like a year ago, and all the PS4/PS5 games were a paper insert inside one of those protective security cases instead of a game being inside them.

It was super low stocked last time I went. I think they might be out of the physical media business at my local store.

Also does anybody's local Best Buy even use their registers anymore? It seems like for the last couple of years every time I went in to pick something up, all the registers were shut down and they were just cashing everybody out at the service desk, even in the middle of the day.

They usually have one (two if it gets busy) at mine.

Also I just checked and I can see a pick-up option for Paper Mario at my store. The video game section is nowhere near as big as it was at its height but my store still stocks games.

Not as many as they used to but they still have PS5 and whatever is current now. Their PS4 section though is half an end cap last I looked so that's pretty much non existent.

As for cashing out. Yea I always have to find an associate to cash me out. I guess they don't want to pay people to stand at a register unless it is the holidays.

That's a theft deterrent. They have the physical games locked up

Yeah I checked other stores around me and I can still do in-store pickup on release day at one eight miles away. That one's close enough to where I work that I'll probably just do that.

Best Buy was always my go-to, but Walmart always seems to be the cheapest on physical these days
