It's usually not a good thing. There have been exactly 2 other users I cam do that with only one of which I'm cool with. The other was zues on the potd board.

Think I was thag wag with admiral but I came to CE not long before he was gone.

Yes and zues was basically his potd counterpart just not a mod.

Hell I leaned conservative back In the day and those two would put a bad taste in my mouth with the shit they'd spout. They might even be the reason I started questioning my own political views come to think of it.

I have never ever once cared if someone insulted the place I work at. However, the only reason he said it is because insulting him is a moddable offense so we know what he's aiming for.

Likely because conservative back in the day wasn't as toxic as it is today (or maybe just not as open about it). It's like the worst of history is repeating itself. I used to dream about eventually settling down in Florida near my relatives. Nice weather, affordable, etc. Now I don't even want to visit the state.

It could be that but I could legit buy he was afraid Fandom would get upset and come down on him for not keeping us on a tighter leash with such comments. That or he has some kinda loyalty to the company and feels he should defend it.

I cannot recall coming across many positive opinions.

I only know of Fandom through their actions here, and various stories about people withdrawing their Wikis, and sites plagued with intrusive advertising.

Does anyone have a more favourable perspective?

I didn't mind Fandom when they where just wiki pages. I'd visit their site once in awhile to look up a specific game character for research.

Well, they don't. The community provides the useful content. Fandom does not create, it merely hosts a web page and shits so much advertising on it that you can barely use it for its original purpose. They're GoDaddy without the class.

I dont think Fandom itself provides any content. Its just a wiki host for the most part I thought. And in fact the recent controversies are about Fandom actually degrading wikis by posting AI generated material thats false

That was extremely minor though I seldom did it and didn't seek them out specifically it's just what would be in the top results of a search.

It was almost always I just wanted to know a specific fact about a character like their age or affiliations for example.

I mean knowing reveolver ocelots affiliations could be a full blown school test in itself lol

It mean's that I'm consistent in my beliefs and points. Not just trolling like so many people accuse me of. So it's a compliment to my genuineness -- whether or not people view that as a good or bad thing. At least they know I'm not "faking it"

The main articles are still written by people, but there's a quick answers section which is just bullshit.

The Hollow Knight moved their wiki because of answers like this. The only answer that's not outright wrong is the third one and it doesn't actually answer the question.

those AI answers seem like someone programmed them to 'pick the least generally offensive answer, while also being as inappropriate as possible'

The Ganon stuff doesn't seem too far off base but seems to make assumptions rather than just state facts. Like I can see nabooru being his wife. He was king and she is the top dog of the gerudo otherwise.
