Best part of it, IMO, is just how much of an unrepentant asshole Dio is. Kicks your dog and smooches your girl - just because he hates you for literally no reason other than to be a hater. I won't say its gotten better, as it hasn't but there aren't any parts I actively dislike. I will say that Joseph in Part 2 is probably my favourite character, as he just doesn't give a damn with how he tries to kill enemies. It makes me sad that he stopped being like that in part 3 and his eventual age made it worse in part 4. As for the worst main character it has to be Jonathan.
