It was britty gud huh. So glad Aang and Katara kissed, after the hug I wasn't convinced it was gonna happen. Also glad Zuko immediately took that headass hairdo back down.

Kinda felt like it could've used another 20 minutes of aftercare, because it is SUCH a character driven show, and the finale is more plot/fighting.

Peak of the series is probably the northern water kingdom invasion, but S2 and S3 are both great. Zuko and Azula are both great characters.

Ummm, probably not. For one, there's just so much other stuff to watch nowadays and I'm not sure I want to commit to it right after this. I've also heard mixed things, not just about that show but about how it depicts A:tLA characters later in their lives.

Actually, I just don't hear good things about Korra. Besides the vaguest "1/3/4 are good 2 sucks" or something like that. But I've never seen people talk about liking the themes or plot or even describing them, just problems they have with characters or world building.

I'm not ruling it out but I definitely want a break before more avatar.

Iroh is one of my favorite characters ever.

There is one really cool double episode I would recommend for Korra even if you don't plan on watching the show. It's basically the story of the first Avatar and lore wise it is pretty interesting. It's in season 2 iirc.

They actually did several comics. Zukos mom is the second one. First one deals with conflict between Aang and Zuko over how to handle Fire colonies in the Earth Kingdom.

The comics are pretty good too, you should check them out.

Physically sure, but Aang is technically 112 which actually means he's the one that should know better. Maybe... maybe Republic City should take down his statue.

Aang is 112 and Katar is 15.

Shit's fucked yo!

sarcasm, duh

Regarding the Legend of Korra, I personally enjoyed the series greatly. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and most of the characters are worthy additions to the franchise. Season 2 is definitely "weaker" than the others because it is much less action oriented and its conflict is much different than the terrorism that defines most series antagonists BUT it's indisputably significant for setting up the events that happen in seasons 3 & 4, plus there are a couple of amazing episodes that singularly stand out. Korra is a MUCH different character from Aang, but that's part of the reason that I think her journey is worth watching.

I just think that if people enjoyed AtLA, then AtLoK is worth checking out despite what internet toxicity would have you believe about the series.

The biggest issue with Legend of Korra is they made that show instead of giving us 4 seasons of what Aang and all the rest did for the next 20 years. The war is over, I want to see how the world changes and what every one does with their lives.

Katara is fourteen, not fifteen.

It is still a little weird though. I think this is one thing NATLA might do a bit better just because the passage of time forces them to make the timespan a bit larger.

Okay I'm watching the opening of Korra. Aang and Zuko went globalist after that was the inciting conflict between the previous avatar and fire lord... and there's SKYSCRAPERS?

This show might immediately be settling my lowkey chief complaint of a lot of fantasy media, that being not challenging the underlying power structures that create the world's conflicts such as the monarchies and aristocracy.

Just my 2 cents.

The Legend of Korra as a standalone series isn't bad. But as a continuation, sequal or whatever to Avatar the Last Airbender..... it took a massive shit on the original series and smeared it all over.

sokka is DEAD

I watch LoK first (and loved it, would definitely recommend sticking with it and forming your own opinion), so this isn't something I picked up on the first time...but yeah, if I had to levy one major criticism against LoK, it's that Sokka died off before the show started. Without spoiling anything, Old Chief Sokka would've been a perfect addition to the story at a certain point, and in my fanfic headcanon would've helped alleviate some of the criticisms most people have of the show at said point.

Toph is fun but it is funny that she feels like an order of magnitude more powerful than the rest of the cast and doesn't really need to earn it on screen. Casually invents metalbending too.

I think it must be that she learned from the giant mole bears. So she's closer to the truth of earthbending than any tribe not long since extinct.

The main reason Toph is the one to "invent" metal bending is because she's got tremor sense, which is a direct result of her being blind and learning from the moles. She was able to literally see where to push and pull the impurities.

What I want to know is how/when she was able to get lessons from them and how long it took, but considering she was also somehow able to become an underground fighting champion despite her helicopter parents I don't really care.

But that Guru Aang visits at the end of season 2 vaguely implies that other people did metal bending as well at some point, or at least that the concept was something that'd been looked into before.

I can believe it.
-Toph is young and rebellious, so she doesn't have such crystallized memory and a comfort with orthodox learned methods
-Her blindness forces her to use earthbending constantly and in ways seeing people don't have to consider.
-Plainly a genius talent
