People are so quick to throw out the term "censorship" for anything that gets changed that they personally don't like.

It's not like it doesn't happen.

But a ton of "censorship" is literally just that the social climate is changing and they're still trying to maximize profits.

In the 90's it was cool for Tifa Lockhart's boobs to individually be bigger than her head. But that wouldn't at all jive with the modern style that prefers immersion to all else. It's not censorship; it's a design decision made for a new time and audience.

I've seen some pretty unhinged shit on the Stellar Blade boards, it's wild, (and very pathetic).

If you look at PC mods, there seems to be a good segment of gamers who use them for...material. We're starting to see more full frontal in mainstream games so the devs know this.

It's the HL of 2024. More people are talking about the controversy of the game than the actual game itself. We'll see if that leads to SB getting more sales because of it.

There's absolutely unhinged people on circle jerk subreddits in both directions and then you have the game boards here versus the game board at ResetEra where even suggesting Eve looks hot or that you could play the game in a non-revealing costume will get you banned. This game is causing both sides of a dumb culture war to show their entire asses for everyone to see. I am sure I will eventually get the game on sale in the future and whatever status her outfits are in at that point will have no impact on my buying decision. Gameplay is considered good by most critics and players and that's what I play games for.

This is how I know that gamergate is just about farming outrage. The fans of SB literally spent the months leading up to launch championing the game as the last bastion against the "woke" and focusing on their culture wars nonsense and then the minute the game came out they all fucking flipped on it. Completely out of the loop here as it's not my sort of game. But are you saying that the character behind all this controversy is actually meant to be 15 years of age? If that's the issue, why not just make her an adult? Why would people WANT a character that young to be sexualized?

But I've raised this issue before and people get tetchy about it for some reason. Sexualize who you want, it makes no difference to me, but at least make sure they're adults, right? That's not an unreasonable position.

It's not specifically sexual, but the main character has very generous proportions, very skimpy and provocative outfits, and jiggle physics. So yeah, certain people are absolutely losing their minds over this game.

I've literally only seen this rhetoric with a certain subsection of gamers and it's weird that it became a thing. It's understood that a comedy channel with all its swear words that were originally blipped out is considered the "uncensored" version even though that's not a legally mandated thing, just a network thing. Things like LGBT and religious references being removed back in the day, violence being toned down, or making someone's skin color lighter outside of government regulations are all understood to be censorship.

It's an action game that plays like a mix of Metal Gear Rising, Bayonetta, and Sekiro.
