I've had a few jobs like that where my mental state was severely deteriorating over time. I was at one of those jobs for about 4.25 years.

Ayyy I'm in insurance too. Have you considered going into underwriting? I've never worked claims but it feels like underwriting is a lot more chill

they arent hiring here

at this point for my own mental well being i need to leave the industry altogether. i legit have trauma, as embarrassing as it is to say

I flinch when I'm home alone at night because I think I hear my work phone ring

yea embarrassing is the wrong word. its not a zero sum game, my problems dont diminish the worse problems of others

just still, i would understand if someone with worse problems felt insulted by my sentiment

i was job hunting but ive become too burnt for that

stopped exercising, socializing, cleaning, even stopped enjoying games

tried to fix that a little bit this weekend, I cooked for the first time in a long time. deep cleaned my room. caught up on all my laundry including bedding. played fallout for a few hours

I was able to achieve mindfulness I hadn't had in a long time, I was enjoying the moment for what it was

exercised yesterday too. I knew I wasn't actually getting better, just actually able to take advantage of the moment for once. and now at the moment has become "work", I'm instantly back to burnt

I would like to resume looking for jobs but on weekdays I just go home, shower, and hardly even scroll

I suppose the answer is to search on weekends, I can do that this weekend

I mean Id definitely find another job because there is a push for more and more to get auto adjudicated. I wouldnt be surprised if IT is working on some AI program to take over stuff that is now manually done.

Consider this the first step to improving your situation. Take on job hunting incrementally. Work on your resume today, apply to 1 job listing another day, etc. Make it a routine that you tackle bit by bit in a way that's manageable. You're right, you don't want it to burn you out or overwhelm you. It has to be a sustainable effort.

yea

wish they would hurry up and do it. like just fire me please. I'm too much of a go guy though, can't turn off my work ethic even to my own detriment. Even for a company that doesn't give a shit

it sucks. theyve got me handling so much more than claims now

fuckin check intake processing, mailing, compiling quarterly audits, peer reviewing major injury case reports, reception calls, customer service calls

i actually at the very least did update my resume when i started looking a couple months ago. and i get certified in handling waste material cuz it was just 30 bucks and a course/exam. id like a cleaning job but they pay so little

this weekend did help me feel like I had a little bit more control than I've had in a while. just sucks that its monday again already

I know youre at the end of your tolerance for the job and its been really bad for your mental health over the last year but just look forward to the fact you are near the finish line. Later this year you move with your partner and you wont be doing this anymore so that has to help somewhat doesnt it? You can see the finish line and its not far away. Then things will get much better.

the thing is, it is now incredibly hard to see further than like a day or week out. this is downright oppressive. there is olympus mons standing between me and the finish line, so unfortunately the fact that this year is the year isnt any help anymore

cest la vie

just

motivation trouble is all

i know some paths that lead to solutions (like job hunting, maximizing my time)

that shit is just hard when i cant even muster enough to take proper care of myself

i guess im just venting. i appreciate u and everyone else typing what u have, but i need to get myself in a more solution oriented place before anything

i used to be so proactive and shit. i gotta work on reclaiming that

straight up unfathomable to me that they are those who work and earn money to live, and don't have to field phone calls all day

I worked out my plan for leaving work about three years in. It was pretty awesome.

Unfortunately they demolished the old bullding last October and replaced it with this new automated facility and its not the same.
