Jack and Jack stands. I'm not a fan of ramps.

the only time i work on cars is when i visit my family and they need oil changes or brakes done.

i'd prefer ramps and chocks, but my dad refuses to buy them, so i use jacks. his jack is also leaky as shit and he just goes "yeah just refill it, i've got the stuff to do it." and i'm like, you've spend more money on hydraulic fluid than you would have spent on either fixing the jack or getting a new one at this point.

Only ever used jacks, but I'd be open to using ramps if I needed too.

Never needed them for anything other than an emergency tire change and a few brake jobs way back, so not a heavy user anyway. I had a neighbor that seemed to have his truck propped up (on ramps) once a month, for whatever reason.

Prefer jack + jack stands for sure

Although nothing beat being able to just shimmy under my truck when I had it and change the oil that way, no lifting required

There are pros and cons to both. You can't work on your tires with ramps but they provide better stability over jacks.
Jacks with stands allow you to work on the tires but they aren't as stable.

Personally I perfer a jack with stands since, they don't take up as much space imo, and you can use the handle for the jack as a cheater bar.

Prefer jack stands. I actually just bought 4 new concrete blocks since my driveway/parking area isn't paved.

Mine too. He's a car dude and my dad is a ex-auto mechanic. They get along great so of there was ever a need there would be no issue

I bring it to a mechanic

my dad used to use ramps in our backyard...on the grass. he had me drive my car up on them a couple times and the entire time I was thinking that that can't possibly be safe.
