https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/elon-musk-reportedly-sacked-tesla-120720545.html

Elon Musk shocked Tesla fans on Monday after news leaked he was eliminating everyone at Teslas Supercharger operations, starting with his highest-ranking female executive.

According to an email from the entrepreneur obtained by The Information, Teslas senior director for EV charging, Rebecca Tinucci, would be leaving the company with immediate effect. Musk also informed staff he would be dismissing everyone on her Supercharger team, which numbered roughly 500 employees.

Tinucci is also the most senior woman executive at the company, as board chair Robyn Denholm is not involved in the day-to-day operations and only serves in an oversight and governance role.

Gutting core operations like Tinuccis is reminiscent of the mass cullings Musk carried out at Twitter after he took over the company. He even prefaced this months companywide layoffs that got rid of more than every tenth job at Tesla with a similar questionnaire to managers demanding they justify their human resources.

Hopefully these actions are making it clear that we need to be absolutely hard-core about headcount and cost reduction, he wrote in the email seen by The Information, which also announced the end of the public policy team led by departed executive Rohan Patel. While some on exec staff are taking this seriously, most are not yet doing so.

Worse. A 55 billion compensation package. What ever the hell that means. From the stock holders no less.

wonder if she participated in voting for his billion dollar package

Tesla said Wednesday it will ask shareholders to reinstate CEO Elon Musk's $56 billion pay package, which a Delaware judge voided earlier this year after ruling that the record-setting compensation deal was "deeply flawed."Apr 17, 2024

Because Musk has developed a cult of personality among his fans, and done some real blatant lying to overstate his company and its ambitions.

idk, Musk is the only vehicle head worth like 100 billion.

You look at the stock prices and volume compared to Ford or GM, and it's valued multiple times higher than them.

GM for instance is valued at like 51b, Tesla is 564b. Ford is 48b.

The actual fuck.

Guess Toyota is 380b. Unsure if any other manufacturer is that high.

Almost like stock values aren't based on any sort of real valuation.

kind of makes sense tbh. Toyota and tesla are the best vehicles currently. American car makers never really recovered from that big crash, and they are continuing to lag behind

The F-150 was the top selling vehicle in the country, by a wide margin. Like 750k, the top selling car was a Camry at 250k.

Tesla is pretty far ahead of the pack when it comes to charging infrastructure. If I was Musk, I'd be leaning into that and leasing the tech to other car manufacturers to make bank.

I wouldn't be slicing up the very division that has awarded my company such an advantage. What a stupid move.

Half of those are from China and I'm sure very legitimate sales.

As to the stock price, while massively overvalued, most of the valuation didn't have anything to do with the cars, it was the batteries, the super-chargers, and "self-driving" capabilities promised and how that might affect the Trucking industry.
Their build quality has always been crap, it was not new to the Cybertruck, just that more people were paying attention now.

Yes I'm well aware of Musk's hemorrhaging of brain matter since he bought twitter and this latest move doesn't really surprise in the slightest.

why
They make more money than other automotive companies. Their profit margins are industry leading by a lot.

They own the charging infrastructure all other automotive companies have switched to using. So its like owning all gas stations too.

They run the supply chain the auto industry is being forced to enter.

Their energy business of batteries for power storage and solar is a nice bonus.

I count the AI business as 0, but the reality is theyre right there with any other big tech company on it.

The other automakers are already in debt and now have to balance surviving on the razor thin margins of their gas cars while needing to invest money they dont have into pivoting to an entirely different supply chain, new factories, etc to compete with a cash rich company thats way ahead of them on this.

Once Tesla dumps Elon, which I believe is closer than being let on, theres no reason they wont be a stable blue chip tech company.
