I'd say being properly diagnosed by a qualified professional.

Like are there any signs that could give a heads up without a shrink?

Being professionally diagnosed is your best option. Reading about the "signs" online is how people misdiagnose themselves.

Still, it may prompt them to see a medical professional, which they should. And it gives them a better handle.

Do you experience the following:

-Executive dysfunction (wanting to do tasks, but your brain will not let you)
-Difficulties with emotional regulation
-Special interest for something (a subject, a book, tv series, game, ect)
-Find it difficult to understand social cues. Need direct and literal communication
-Your 5 senses are highly sensitive (for instance, you can't eat certain foods due to their texture, or you can't wear certain clothes like jeans because the fabric feels weird)
-Stimming (physical act of fidgeting with a toy, object, or with a body part in order to dispel excess energy)
-Social battery drains very fast.
-You feel like you've been masking for most of your life in order to give the appearance of "normalcy"

Like others have said, get a psych evaluation from a professional. But the things i mentioned are some of the things NDs can experience. it's a spectrum though, so you might not experience all of those.

Sometimes I have difficulty thinking. Like a static wall.

i have extreme difficulty paying attention to things for extended periods, especially if I dont find said thing interesting. Ill slowly but surely start imagining ninjas fighting dragons and stuff. If Im interested in said thing, Im glued.

i get paranoid and think people are out to get me.

I get panic attacks that have put me in the hospital cause I thought something was wrong with my heart.

I have extremely violent intrusive thoughts.

Sometimes Im on edge and dont know why.

Well since neurodivergent is a buzzword and not any kind of meaningful medical term, you can say you are or you aren't and be correct either way.

What is it you're actually concerned about?
Edit: guess you answered before I saw. Just see a Psychiatrist or Psychologist and tell them you want to know how to go about self care. You can start with your primary care doctor and they can give you a referral. Not much else to say.

This. I avoid eye contact and found out this is a common trait of people on the spectrum, which led to me taking the autism spectrum quotient, where I got a high score, and that in turn led me to seek out a professional who then diagnosed me.

But even things like the quotient can only point to red flags, they can't tell you you're on the spectrum. Like, lots of people with ASD have social anxiety but that doesn't mean everyone with social anxiety has ASD.
