They were in a position to lead the entire world in aerospace technology for the next century, and now they are the Walmart of aerospace technology. It's really too bad that the "free market" doesn't actually work the way economists like to say it does. Too big to fail has replaced innovation and smart planning. We are going to see this pattern repeat in every industry because competition has been lobbied out of existence.
