It too is my favorite of the series. The layout, music, bonus of the NES games, and so much more made it great.

What are they gonna do? The modern games are exactly the same, minus ruder neighbors and the NES games.

I do think the original had the best atmosphere and felt the most rewarding at the time of release though. There was nothing else like it back then

It is super dated by now, like wasn't there less than 10 ocean fish.

And then there was the weird acre system

But I do miss the NES games, but since they are part of Nintendo Switch Online I guess there is no reason to add them back

I always wondered what they were thinking when designing the MC.

"Hmm... we can't really do custom hair yet... so instead, everybody's gonna be a viking."

Yep, which is probably why it hooked me so hard back in 2003. I remember starting it right before senior year of high school and being tempted to miss random school days because or a killer Tom Nook sale or something.

I was also in HS. I remember my mom going out late with her bf, so I would stay up doing late night fishing and night events. New Horizons has a lot more content, but it has all been done before. Wish i could experience it for the first time again.

also, i prefer the forest setting over the island. I also liked the grid.

For me its Wild World. I 100% everything. Took a decade with no time skips. I believe it's still in my DS

The first game had some great furniture too. Feel like the new game really lacked in the fun furniture department.

the game should not be remade with the original personality quirks. The Gamecube version of Animal Crossing made kids cry because of how mean the characters were and because of Mr. Resetti and the general creepiness of the game.

P sure Hambo told me to shrivel up and blow away once cuz I talked to him too much. I miss him. Just bring him to New Horizons and keep ACGC's antiquated design on GameCube.

Really? I mean I hate Mr resetti with a passion, so that's correct. Mean characters? The elephant one was a gym bro. All of those were annoying. Then Tom nook money scam. Hey here's this free house but you work for me then you.sell me stuff then pay off house that's way over priced. And you can only trade or buy from me

Oh about resetti after the 10th time. I was thinking very dark thoughts about how much time I wasted reading him going on and on gor 5 mins. I hate him.

I liked the mean characters. It was a game and i knew they werent real. I prefer them over the generic weird passive aggressive cult-ish feeling i get from the New Horizons neithbors.

i also liked resseti. Probably because it was such a cool thing back then for a game to recognize cheating outright.

Tom Nook is definitely nicer than most landlords. He gives you a house and doesnt demand you to pay back. His furniture isnt too expensive, and he buys garbage from you.

Yep same. It must have very easily been my most played DS game. After that would be Pokemon Diamond and Mario Party DS.
