For me, it's martial arts safety vs practical application. There are things you just don't risk in practice, because you're going to get fucked and not practice anymore. At the same time, too much focus on the sport of it, rather than the combat application, just kinda gives you unnecessary gaps in your defense ability. Sure, save tani otoshi for higher ranks, but don't omit it outright.

Also: I'm not actually sure if a hotdog is a sandwich.

Hmm, I'll have to get back to you on that one, as I'm staunched on most things.

Idk, maybe these:

- Steroids in sports. I get that it's an unfair advantage over those who train naturally, but I want to see the extent of our humanly limits that isn't on my expense.

- PETA vs my need to eat animals. I sympathize with them and their cause, but in the end I'll still be having a BBQ Cook-out with all of the meats that I've hunted.

What martial art could that possibly be? Krav Maga, where they teach how to gauge out someone's eyes, and stab them with a knife?

All that stuff is pretty non-practical anyhow, because anything you can't truly practice, you wont be able to implement in a real situation.

In Jiujitsu, Wrestling, Boxing, Muay Thai and other practical martial arts there really isn't anything you can't actually practice -- you practice all of it. Which is why if you know these thing and you get into a real altercation, you can usually execute them pretty flawlessly, especially against an untrained opponent.

Something like Aikido is never going to work, because its not practical at all, which is why its not practiced as such -- there is no way to practically practice a "zen" or "fitness" martial arts, because thats not what it was created to do.

Horse racing. At a minimum it needs to address the injuries and deaths that are all too common for the horses. It could be banned in my lifetime the same way greyhound racing pretty much is especially if it fails to reform. But at the same time I watch it because it reminds me of my grandfather and is exciting.

Judo in my specific case. I mentioned tani otoshi because it is infamous for ruining knees. There are similar things that are avoided in wrestling, and even further in jujutsu, which partly originates from old timey battlefields. Hell, jujutsu is only recognized as a grappling art now because of how much has been cut from it. Originally had weapons, strikes, gouging, you name it. Had to evolve with the times both for political reasons, and to, you know, not have blind crippled people not wanting to keep paying them.

I used to think similarly to you, about practice needing to replicate execution, but recently I've seen how a lot of MT practice is more repetition and conditioning, and MT champs tend to dominate if they venture into other combat sports. The key difference simply being that preservation allows for more experience, but also that kicking a tree isn't too different from kicking a leg.

It's too bad aikido still gets marketed as a defense thing, when it's really just co-op yoga and would be more successful if recognized as such.

Several.

Veganism: I think it's great, I am not vegan and don't intend to be. Good for vegans though.
Environmental activism: I support the cause in general, I dislike protests traffic or target works of art but understand why they feel such actions are necessary.
Drug policy: Harm reduction strategies first, but that doesn't entirely preclude making certain drugs illegal.
Israel Hamas Gaza Palestine: I support a two state solution. Israel is wrong to build settlements in Palestinian territory and commit genocide. Hamas is the elected representative in Gaza and deliberately targets Israeli citizens without even the pretense of it being of military strategic importance. Everyone wants to live, and everyone in that area is treating each other awfully as they have for decades.
Toilet paper mounting direction as someone else said. Live and let live.
Marvel vs DC: Both have great content
Star Wars Star Trek: Both have great content

Sleeping. Now I do love being in sleep mode, lying there knowing for the next few hours I can close my eyes and relax. It's getting there that's the problem, I don't like the initial falling asleep. Lying there thinking that I will be in dreamland any second now creeps me out a bit and if I think about it too much I can't fall asleep at all.

As someone with multiple Muay Thai bouts, including competing in one of the top promotions in the world as little ago as February...I don't think so my man. Muay Thai fighters spar...without sparing, you lose. The pad work, and repetition is part of practice, but nothing simulates competition besides competition.

Judo is a strange one, because it involves a Gi, if you attempt these moves against someone not wearing a coat, then its just wrestling. Still, I don't get how you can't practice the moves. You just practice breakfalls. In wrestling we even practice suplexing eachother. You can practice anything.

Existing

Ive had several moments in life where I would get a kick and even a rush of how amazing this reality is

on the other hand I dread what else is can happen especially with what occurred in my house. I never really do get that rush anymore and I have extreme anxiety at times plus stress

heck we lived mostly without internet in my house but now we have starlink which I absolutely am glad for.

lots of things are in my neutral opinion but meh
