After the launch of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 in 2020, developer Vicarious Visions pitched a second remake for the third and fourth games, but these plans were nixed in favor of the developer working as a Call of Duty support studio.

Despite the success of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, Activision reportedly passed on the pitch so that VV could assist on Activision's biggest franchise, Call of Duty. The studio was eventually absorbed into Blizzard as a support team in April 2022 and rebranded to Blizzard Albany.

Was the 1+2 remake "successful"? I thought it was another one of the (many) remakes that most people claimed to hate because it was too different from the originals.

Tony Hawk himself announced this years ago. It's old news.

It was the best-selling game in the series, and had a great reception. Not sure where you're getting the hate part.

It got some backlash on PC for being EGS exclusive for a while, then having an always-online requirement (that has since been lifted to let it run on Steam Deck).

But the game itself has always been pretty well regarded, just corporate bullshit generating hate.

Actually he's probably thinking of the original THPS HD, which was complete dogshit. Or maybe even THPS5.

Yeah, I feel like I heard about this at least 2 years ago.

I get all of my modern gaming news from GameFAQs message boards, so the perspectives are usually more negative than they are outside.
