Elon Musk sent a late-night email on Monday saying the company is being "absolutely hardcore" about layoffs, according to a report from The Information.

Now, the billionaire may be walking back what he said.
The email announced the departure of two senior executives and said both of their teams would be eliminated, with a small number of employees reassigned, The Information reported. One of the dissolved divisions, the supercharging team, would mean 500 jobs being cut, according to the report.

But now, there are already discussions about rehiring some of the impacted workers, Bloomberg reported. Bringing back laid-off staff would allow Tesla to continue operating the supercharger network and grow it at a slower rate, according to insiders who spoke to Bloomberg.

The Tesla supercharger network is something that sets Tesla apart from other EVs. When Elon's dumb ass just laid off the whole supercharger team, I had a lot of concern about superchargers falling to disrepair and becoming even worse than other EV charging stations.

IMO, Elon needs to be pushed out of Tesla somehow because firing the whole supercharger team is dumb as hell. Even if he were to replace the team, a ton of siloed knowledge is likely completely lost at this point.

The guy acts with the conviction of a fart in the wind.

Time to negotiate

This is unfortunately fairly common. Firing people/departments you absolutely need. It's worse when they don't hire and have everyone else pick up the slack.

i thought the board is about to, or already did, approve his $46,000,000,000 compensation package?

I still can't figure out how Tesla's board hasn't given him the boot.

I'm not sure, but there was a recent share holder vote about it. I own exactly 1 share of TSLA and voted against it.
