I prefer PC FPS games like Quake, but that doesn't mean Halo is unpopular nor that it wasn't one of the most played online multiplayer back in the day. Remember PS2's expensive HDD and modem add-ons that barely anyone used?

My question hasnt changed, you just didnt answer it sufficiently. Instead you tried to change my question to what did Microsoft popularise, even then you got most of that wrong. Attributing HDDs to Microsoft is a weird meltdown even for you and HDDs in consoles doesnt answer my question

Your original question was "when was MS ever good for gaming", which by itself is a subjective question. I pointed out facts ie trends they popularized, which you dismissed because you personally dislike them. The gaming industry doesn't revolve around you.

Buying up IPs to sit on them, and close down the studios that made them. A tale as old as time. Consolidation is a pestilence.

B) I can't believe we're still shilling for faceless corporations in Anno Domini 2024. They aren't good for us. They never have been. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo don't deserve to have you fall on their swords for them.

HDDs were inevitable just like SSDs were inevitable, loading off disc media is too slow.
