It's such a clich move, isn't it? Sure, it's meant to showcase just how ruthless and heartless the villain is, but come on, who in their right mind would stick around after witnessing their boss casually eliminate their own team? And let's be real, even if they were forced into staying, they're hardly going to be the most motivated employees, are they?

Take Clarence from Robocop for example. Not only does he take out Bobby, but he drops a one-liner as he does it. And as if that's not enough, he goes ahead and blows up Joey's car too. I mean, seriously, who in their right mind would sign up to work for someone like that? Especially when there's an unstoppable metal cop hot on your trying to kill you.

that is the power of ideology though
we see it happen in real life

people would just rationalize it like "oh he wasn't for the cause so he deserve it, the boss was right"

I mean if you just saw Vader force choke a bitch over FaceTime what are you gonna do? Run away?

I forget the series, but I saw an image from an older anime(?), where there was this robot boss, I think.

anyway, one of his guy's failed at something, and expected to be punished.

the boss was like, "why would I punish you? you've served me loyally, you have looked out for your people; you should be commended."

I thought that was cool, since we're so used to seeing bad guy bosses hurting, punishing, and/or killing their people.

Vader brings up a good point. Someone working with the authority of the government behind them has ways of forcing henchmen to follow along whereas the henchmen of a comic book villain often make a lot less sense.
