From what I hear, EA considers MUT the main game these days. And actually playing Football is the side game

I regularly get Madden, usually on an every other year basis, and have never played MUT, other than the year they had offline challenges vs the CPU (like replaying famous games)

I played (and spent money on) MUT for the Madden 16 season and then 17 came around and I got a pat on the back for playing effectively and I never fucked with MUT again lol.

But even if you only bought it for offline, you're definitely more of the exception to EA's expectation

Yeah, I pretty much just play it to play online "GM" franchises with my friends. There's 6 of us and we each get a division to run the teams, but Sim all the games.

Other than that, I do a franchise with my son where we fantasy draft, but every player we draft has to be a rookie, and we can't re-sign any player, we must replace them with a drafted player or an undrafted rookie.

Regular Madden is the side content at this point, which is why I gave up on the series.
