She was recently hospitalised because her heart rhythms were all out of whack, and to get a whole raftload of tests to get to the bottom of that, as well as known atrial fibrillation, a blood clot in her heart and a lot of bleeding due to blood thinners (6 hospitalisations in 4 months due to massive blood loss).

First week, it was all about the plan of action. Scans of her heart to identify the cause of the issue, then a clip to close off the area of her heart where the clots were forming, then a defibrillator device implant.

Suddenly, it became all about her lungs (she's been a smoker for 50 years). My mum's one of those people who doesn't agree to *anything* unless she knows exactly why, but she was telling me she had no idea whatsoever why they were interested in her lungs. They did a PET scan on Tuesday, and she was telling me the other day that her "lymph nodes were ok". Which seems to be a strange thing to worry about, unless they're worried about cancer.

After what my wife went through after her cancer diagnosis, treatment and monitoring (PET scans and worries about lymph nodes), my dad went through (terminal cancer, lots of PET scans, lymph nodes like christmas trees) and my mother in law is currently going through (stage 4), I'm worried as fuck.
