During a conversation on the War on Technology at Benton, Louisianas Cypress Baptist Church unearthed by X user Receipt Maven last week the Louisiana representative talked about how he installed accountability software called Covenant Eyes on his devices in order to abstain from internet porn and other unsavory websites.

It scans all the activity on your phone, or your devices, your laptop, what have you; we do all of it, Johnson told the panel about the app.

It sends a report to your accountability partner. My accountability partner right now is Jack, my son. Hes 17. So he and I get a report about all the things that are on our phones, all of our devices, once a week. If anything objectionable comes up, your accountability partner gets an immediate notice. Im proud to tell ya, my son has got a clean slate.

Outside of the creepy Big Brother-ness of it all, Receipt Maven also aired concerns about whether Covenant Eyes which is still a working subscription-based service might compromise Johnsons devices, if hes still actively seeking accountability.

A US Congressman is allowing a 3rd Party tech company to scan ALL of his electronic devices daily and then uploading reports to his son about what hes watching or not watching., Receipt Maven wrote. I mean, who else is accessing that data?

This is heavy. I don't want to make fun of people for being addicted to anything even porn. I was addicted to twitter and food. So anything besides get you. However having your see check behind you to see if you watch porn is crazy. I would show my parents the Elsa post from this website and people talking about letting their family check on their porn habits. Also why is this paid service, if you want this to be thing just have someone check your history .

However, having your significant other constantly checking behind you to see if you're watching trash is crazy. I wouldn't show my parents the Elsa post from this website, nor would I engage with people talking about letting their family check on their porn habits. Also, why is this a paid service? If you want this to be a thing, just have someone check your history

I use BlockP on my phone and ColdTurkey on my computer to block porn. My best friend has the code to unlock it if I need to for whatever reason. (Usually if something that is not porn is mistakenly blocked)

Porn addiction is real, so some people will do what they need to help limit or prevent them from seeing images that could trigger it. So while the article comes off somewhat creepy, its intent is good.

I dont truly see something wrong with it, and the main thing is, while it is a Christian App, who monitors you is your choosing whoever you want it to be. Having accountability is important to healing from addiction. Also I figure there are non Christian apps out there that do the same if thats a problem.

Porn usage as moral status is basically
-does anything you do really have negative impact
-don't expect a girlfriend
-it's not fair to women, making everything even again
