I'm on the fence this time. Endwalker was amazing, but I don't really see much hype for this one this time.

I think I'm done after and walker, but mainly because it's such a good place to put the story down. I'm expecting Dawntrail to be a much smaller, character-driven story. They need to reset the stakes and if they want another Shadowbringer or endWalker they're going to need to put at least two expansions in between to give the story time to build.

As an FF9 fan, I'm super hyped for Dawntrail as it looks like it's going to be FF9 reference heavy.

Yeah, I just don't know A. How caught up I'll be, or B. How hard into Elden Ring DLC I'll be

With the exception of Stormblood and the Fandaniel part of endwalker, I think every add on was pretty awesome so far.

I have to admit that I don't like the beginning right of "hey, you are strong heroes, help be becoming ruler!" right but I'm sure it will be fine.

And after 4 add ons, with 3 wars and multiple apocalypses, it's fine to get the beach episode add on that starts a bit calmer.

Stakes will be high again soon enough.

The new Viper job is basically just Zidane and one of the new areas is called Solution 9 which is one Zidane's Trance abilities. They're making it pretty clear that this expansion will have a lot of FF9 love.

Hot diggity damn. I guess I'm on the Dawntrail train! You're not alone!

Maybe there will be more hype when we get nearer to launch? It's still two months away. The hoopla and hype when a new expansion launches is always exciting. And seeing all of the people play at once is fun.

Yes but I'm not that excited for the story. More interested in the two new classes, the graphics upgrade, and being able to do new content (trials and raids) as they release.

I don't know why, Endwalker wasn't a hint to a FFIV remake and Endwalker was all about FFIV references.

is it worth enduring the queues? the game has been gettings DDoS'd hard recently and I can only imagine it getting worse with returning players and the DDoSers wanting to hit them when it hurts

It was just one day. There's no queues currently.

Now when the expansion drops, who knows.

Yeah but way less than I played before. Ive done all I wanted to do when it comes to raiding achievements and I personally dont like the direction of end game content in the game. Moreover I feel that I have more productive things to do than raid all the time. That said lll probably still play the expansion casually to some degree.

I played through all the FF expansions but I just dont have the time anymore to play through MMOs. Ill probably sit this one out

I would way rather have gone to Meracydia or the Thirteenth/World of Darkness for an expansion because this seems just TOO low stakes and fillery on the surface. Sure it'll still be good, just a giant change in pace and tone from what we've seen

I suspect they're going to use the 13th as the new Eureka/Bozja type zone.

If they'll fix their fucking payment processing issues so I can use my debit card, then I plan to play it, yes.

I removed my card just in case. I heard you might get banned if your card doesn't work

I removed mine too, and it wouldn't have been accepted when it tried to renew anyway so it's not like I would've gotten anything by putting it back on. But until they fix the problem I can't even re-add it.

I think I read that if you get that message after removing and trying to re-add, it means it wouldn't have renewed if you had left it alone. So you did the right thing

I never even finished ARR. I loved the setting, I loved the characters and the visuals and exploring, but damn the story was just so dry, I really couldn't keep up with it even because there'd be some major climactic moment and then the next two quests would be doing menial odd jobs at a tavern.

Supposedly the story is incredible in Shadowbringers and Endwalker

I have heard that, but I've also heard it takes 100 hours to complete ARR and I don't have that kind of commitment :(

That's only if you do more than the MSQ. Each expansion can be done in like 40ish hours like a regular RPG otherwise.

Don't play it like it's some kind of job. Play it like a video game and take your time and enjoy it. It's an amazing journey of a video game. The story and characters are unforgettable.

Honestly, what kept me going through ARR was the Gold Saucer. That was the content I was looking forward to doing while I did MSQ on the side. Things got better on Heavensward.

Already pre-ordered.

ARR is slow as balls. Post-ARR and before HW (patch content) is even worse until the last little bit, even with how it was cut down. Low level job kits also don't often feel very good.

It picks up after that but it's a massive ask to sit through to get to that point, and if you're in it for the story you kind of need to. I don't blame people for shrugging it off.

The post-ARR quests that were cut will always make me sad, cuz it included the Sylph stuff which was like the first time the Scions ever felt like real characters. That entire section was super fun.

The story isn't really that slow outside of ARR. Just don't do the absolute garbage sidequests. They're not worth it for entertainment purposes or for in game reward purposes.

The only one that stands out besides the Manderville questline is the guy in Heavensward who's chocobo was missing, and it's unforgettable because of how depressing it is.
