Steamed Hams were made up for the show.

I live literally 10 mins from Albany and in the capital district my whole life, I've never heard this term outside of The Simpsons.

I lived in Clifton Park for a number of years, just a few miles north of Albany. Nobody ever referred to hamburgers as "steamed hams".
