Baseball umpires might just be the worst refs between the sports but its not like the other two major sports are totally competent either. There's like a bazillion cameras around the goals and that's the only other place anything contentious happens. Baseball, you need to alter balls and strikes quite a bit to actually make an impact. Hockey seemingly has the most perilous penalty's for a bad ref call, but they aren't that often. But a Roughing call in football can dramatically alter an entire game. Same for a holding call. NBA is the same.
