I don't know that it's actually canon though. Besides, Gilgamesh proves that several of the universes are connected to some degree. So he sobs over her comatose body, while being transported to a past self within the body of his father and his friends, who somehow bumblefuck their way to defeat another sorceress and take over a futuristic country. The main character takes the comatose body of the possessed girl he suddenly can't be without, and then they for some reason go to the moon, because I guess, and then he mindwarps into the past to get the girl back, while jumping out into space after she triggers a cataclysm of endless monsters. The characters then concoct a plot to use the power of friendship to bypass the issue of existing in the far flung future (which doesn't seem to look all that different), and then go into a Dracula-esque Castle to battle a sorceress for the fate of humanity. The main character suffers an insane mindfuck kind of ending...but they get all back to their own time because he believed a special garden would be the best place the girl he kinda hated but now super really liked because she was comatose was told, "Remember this place. I love you, so I'll find you." I dont hold 7 against them, thats just game development, plus if you count the big budget direct sequels and the VII Remake games its more like 10 in that span, which is slower but not too bad actually. They still get these games out at a clip they just changed what they make in the series. --- I just decided to change this sig. It's also not really more absurd than what happens in X, and people rarely complain about that one as much as they complain about VIII. Junction system sucks though sorry! To make this not a secret FFVIII topic: I'm going to choose to ignore Kitase or whoever says that 7 and X are in the same universe. I think he was just doing it for the clicks. I'm also going to ignore all the X-3 audio drama stuff that's supposedly canonical and really really bad. Spirits Within just existing and nearly destroying the brand/company is a great answer.
