I know release is very far off, but I managed to beat the third boss on my 2nd try. Only 6.5 hours played so far, but this seems quite a bit harder than the first game.

yeah but in Hades you're supposed to die.

I just met Circe for the first time and got the boon that shrinks you and gives you a respectable amount of dodge.

To my great joy, all of Mel's line are sped up and pitched higher. Incredible. I love this game so much.

Somehow hades topics make me miss darkroasts. For all the lies, roast was good with gaming topics, and ultimately the lies were irrelevant to that.

Finally beat Chronos. Weird how whenever I decide to make a run for Chronos, grave thirst always effects the Argent Skull.

i dont think Ive gotten any of those boons so far besides the extra attack one. It seems like theres a lot of variety but there are a lot of rooms with currency rewards and stuff like that. There were times in Hades Id be getting a new boon 3-5 rooms in a row but that doesnt seem to happen here.

best ones Ive had so far are the sideways shots on the staff omega, and 60% armor reduction on dash strike. That was the run I beat the 3rd boss on

First patch hit, noteworthy changes include faster sprinting, not being locked out of other resource gathering since you don't have the right tool (it's now changed to the corresponding resource being more common), toning down Eris encounters, and driftwood not being the rarest substance in existence.

Apparently Chaos gives you the first one just by talking to them, but I've played the Early Access a bunch(30+ hours, beaten it with all weapons and started doing Fear runs) and haven't seen it yet.

Regarding the first patch I'm surprised how fast they changed their mind on the gathering tool restrictions. Especially since the Familiars already alleviated it a bit by giving you one use of a tool you didn't bring.

They haven't given me a single drop, so I'm in the same boat as you right now.

If there were 2 more familiars for the spade and pickaxe then I'd get it (and they probably will add more familiars as early access continues), but right now there's only Frinos and Toula that cover the Tablet and Fishing Pole, and I feel like bringing the pickaxe is better than the spade 9 times out of 10 because minerals are used more than the grown plants in the incantations and upgrades.

Oh, and since that got overhauled, apparently they tinkered with that aspect of the familiars a bit too, but I don't know how exactly since I didn't boot up the game yet

have they said if anything carries over from the first game, or some other bonus for playing through it? played the first on switch and thinking about getting the second on pc

I doubt that will happen

there are plenty of references to the first game but I don't see any sort of progress carry-over or stuff like that

anyway, I want to ask how many hours played the people who have gotten their first clear were at when it happened. I got my first clear in Hades the 3rd day the game was out so I was one of the first on CE, but I was also playing 8 hours/day

Steam has me logged at 23 hours (didn't play it since a couple days ago) for the pic posted above, but there were some times where I had the game paused because I got a phone call or realized I had something important to do around the house or some shit, so feel free to subtract an hour from that, and another two if you don't want to count Chaos Trials or surface runs

No idea for Hades I, but in Hades II I got mine during the morning of the 9th(it released on the 6th I believe, but I didn't play that day until an hour before I fell asleep). Hours wise I think I was around 11-12 hours played. My exact run number was 16, but I don't know if the mandatory surface run(s) were counted as attempts in the record thingy.

I'd count all side stuff. wandering around is part of the game.

does 2 show your # of runs somewhere? I haven't seen it

TIL Aphrodite wants to bang Charon

So I play on controller without aim assist and only just now noticed that if I kept it on I could strafe while shooting the same target with Ignium. The same thing could be done on KBM but I'm not sure if I should just learn to play with that now or change my aim assist setting every time I switch to this weapon.

Absolutely demolished this run. Advancing Whirlwind is a little awkward on its own because you can't dodge while it's going, but if you get Psychic Whirlwind to take care of that, it becomes truly frightening. Throw in the Hephaestus bonus damage on top along with enough mana regen that I could wind up spin attacks indefinitely and I was basically unstoppable.

I think the only thing that could have made this better is if I had managed to get lucky and get a third hammer from Echo to make the spin attack charge faster.

Zeus's cast boons are fucking busted, can literally carry a run by themselves

I'm honestly waiting for the full release, as tough as it is to do so.

Seems better than the original so far. Melinoe's cast, sprint, and different weapons make her feel different enough from Zagreus and there are already more stages than Hades I with at least one more on the way. Said extra stages are in a different direction at the start so the entire run would be in different locations with different enemies/bosses as well. There are also the Chaos trials which are short runs through one area with set aspects/upgrades/keepsakes, but they haven't been very challenging so far.

Progression is probably the most similar part to Hades I. Though the main story doesn't advance past your first victory right now so I'm not sure how much different that will be once it's done.

I'm guessing that's why the final boss is so strong. I beat the final boss for the first game on about my 10th run. I've done probably at least 20 Underworld runs and still haven't beaten the final boss. I'm guessing once they release that story they are going to make the fight a bit easier.

yeah I just got to him for the first time and he was hitting me for 25-30 in one swing. I had no DDs left so I probably can't beat him without being perfect

If you find Hades too easy how's Hades 2?

A problem I had with Hades was I was able to get through it too easily which kinda ruins the story telling since the story expects you to die regularly.

Up until the final boss I thought Hades II was easier. I'm better at the fight now but I still think he's harder than base Hades was. One thing that stops you in your tracks for story purposes is a character that curses you to take increasing damage per room until it maxes out at double damage taken. I would've had my first victory earlier than I did in Hades 1 were it not for that.

Granted that's just for the path going down which is done. The surface felt harder despite only being two areas so who knows how that will turn out difficulty-wise.
