1. Actually, we do tell them not to kill. We have entire laws about this.

2. As a human who (probably) doesn't want to die, you have a reason to listen to us telling you how to not die. As a human who wants to kill, they have no reason to listen to us telling them not to kill.

3. There are more people who don't want to die than who want to kill, and they're a lot more open about the way they feel. So we can much more easily find and identify you to begin the conversation in the first place.
