On the one hand it would suck having to continue to live if everyday is mental hell, but on the other it seems pretty extreme even if other treatments were already tried.

MAID is a deeply complex topic and discussion around it usually does not turn out great here

The idea of spending 3 and a half years seeking approval to kill yourself is crazy to me

No, it was a 500 topic from awhile back. A CEman gave updates of his wife going through the MAID process.

Yep, for stating that "she had a boyfriend and roof over her head and should be happy" and that she needed to experience "real hardship" then he doubled down repeatedly when called out on how shitty a thing that is to say.

Overall, I sympathize. Here's a syllogism. Your brain is part of your body. Your body can get sick. Therefore, your brain can get sick. We can justify MAID for physical illnesses, I think it's okay to justify MAID for mental ones.

Three years of looking for this and she never changed her mind, I think it's more than fair.
