If I'm going to have the subscription anyway because my games' online functionality requires it, I have no issue with calling it essentially free

the "free" mindset companies try to band with subscription fees is a huge win for companies since they get more money out of you from a subscription as opposed to just buying games

Yeah, at this point you either already bought the game (and they're giving you nothing) or you weren't going to buy it, and they're not missing out on any revenue by giving it to you for "only" the cost of your subscription.

Especially since you can't play any of those games if you're not actively subscribed to PS+. This actually makes it so you have to pay them longterm just to keep a large portion of your games library accessible.

Gaming websites have been doing Sony's PR for them ever since they brought out PS Plus. If you need to subscribe to access these games and they're taken away from you when you cancel your subscription, then it's not free. You don't see anyone rational claim that Netflix movies are "free".

it should say "for no additional cost" since the cost is factored into the subscription price.

this is like saying i can watch all sorts of stuff on Netflix "for free" once I have a subscription

The same sites also claim that Game Pass games are "free".

"Free" is a buzzword.

It virtually never means you don't actually pay for it. At best it means you don't get reimbursed for not taking it.

It's absurd that RDR2 still isn't 60 fps on PS5 or Xbox when it's been proven how much of a simple update it is for Rockstar to do.

Yeah, the word free is a marketing/propaganda tool, it's "included."
