My county does not, however some other counties in the state do.

I think so but I'm stationed outside the state so they waive it

Not sure if there's anything like that done when the vehicle is first registered. Probably is. Unless it's just something that I've never noticed on the check sheet and never failed on, they don't do it in the regular safety / condition checks though.

Gotta get it checked every other year. Unless it's a '97 or older diesel, or any car from '75 or earlier. There are other rules, but those are the ones I know off hand.

Not at all. Registration in my state is simply pay the fee once a year. No inspection, no emission, nothing. They don't care what kind of piece of junk jalopy you have. Just pay your registration fee and they are happy.

Yes, however Denver regularly sets up stations that will record the emissions and license plate of a passing car to log the emissions test, usually along entrances to highways. It's the off-chance you don't pass by those or fail that you'll have to go in. I believe you have to have two clean screens within 14 months to qualify as a pass, so it's pretty rare to have to go in unless you don't drive on highways very often.

Every year we need to get our vehicles inspected here on multiple things like emission, brakes, seatbelts, chassis, tires,... or risk a fine along with not being insured when in an accident.

EDIT: Seems like I needed to read the topic title more carefully as I read country instead of county....

That's... not a bad way to approach it in general, although maybe some of the stations should be in non-highway locations for people who only really travel in the immediate area? Although I guess you could always just pull onto the highway for a short distance once a year or so; less of an inconvenience than going in for a test I'd imagine.

Yes, it's required biannually here, but only after a car is over 8 years old. New cars just pay the annual registration

Nope.

There are only four counties (of 114) in the state that do (St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Jefferson County, and City of St. Louis; so basically the entire St. Louis Metro area on the MO side).
