Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.) was seen mocking and evading questions from a constituent in a viral video posted this week by the Sunrise Movement, a grassroots climate justice organization. The interaction has led to widespread backlash from progressives online.

Fetterman has been accused of flip-flopping on energy and climate policiesand some see his past support for the Sunrise Movement and current ridicule of the group as further proof of that shift.

In a video posted on X and TikTok yesterday but filmed last week, a constituent from Chester County, Pennsylvania, questioned Fetterman on his criticism of President Joe Bidens liquefied gas pause, which the Biden Administration spearheaded to shield those living in areas that export the gas from the pollution it creates.

The constituent mentioned oil pipelines being built in Chester County, which Fetterman protested alongside the Sunrise Movement in 2018. As shown in the video, Fetterman filmed her as she spoke and sarcastically said Oh, I didnt expect this, after she greeted him.

Why the change of heart? the constituent asked. Why arent you standing with [the] people of Pennsylvania right now?

Fetterman quickly ducked into an elevator. Its doors closed as he began to answer the constituents questions.

It'd be one thing if this dude just always openly loved oil and never cared about the environment, but he literally used these movements to boost his political profile before abandoning their causes after getting elected. Speedrunning to Sinema status.

I'm really starting to hate this trend of people running as progressives then winning and becoming establishment democrats and corporate whores, there's no reason to do this other than those oil barons cut him a nice paycheck. Greed and self persevation always seem to win out over actually working for the people in the country. It makes me scared that even if the wondrous thing happens and Biden not only wins but wins so hard Republicans have no control in government other than the supreme court for the rest of his term that plenty of democrats will sell out to corporations and private interest groups to make sure Biden can't get what he needs to get done to improve people's lives so much so that there's little hope for a Republican challenger to be the next president after him.

We all know whoever would be up after Biden's last 4 years on the Republican side would either be one of Trump's kids, Trump himself if father time hasn't come to claim him or somebody just as eager and willing to impliment project 2025
