Turns out I have Grade B Reflux Esophagitis and Hiatal Hernia. Doctor recommended surgery but the expenses are scaring me, I have insurance but I have never used it.

they can make payment plan, i wouldn't let medical debt haunt you (they will go after your money).

first you need to see insurance how much it cover. then work from there by balancing budget for those things once you get the bill.

Definitely call insurance and talk to them about it.

I had to have my tonsils removed last year and the hospital tried to charge my insurance something insane like 30-40k and told me I'd probably owe $1200. My insurance fought it out with the hospital for like 4 months finally got a call one day I owed a grand total of $284 and that was it.

I had an endoscopy around a year ago, had acid reflux almost constantly but apparently I didn't have any symptoms for a hiatial or any signs in my esophagus of it?

At least you know what's wrong now, I say go for the surgery and get your quality of life back before you develop Barrett's Esophagus.
