Not in themselves

What is sexist (and criticised in Barbie) are things like office dress codes which push women to wear them.

No. It makes me unnecessarily concerned the wearers are going to slip and break their ankles.

I feel like people who wear high heels generally do so for themselves

High heels were literally created for men.

Fetishizing any clothing article and then making its use compulsory is probably a bad look.

yea, but style is a personal thing - there's no one look, and people mix and match items all the time.

I also know this is anecdotal, but everyone I've ever asked about why they wore high heels, rather than flats, for example, would say something about how they liked to, how they liked how they looked in them, and so on.

I really don't understand the appeal for men. They add height, creating the perception that a woman- who otherwise would be shorter than you- is taller than you.

I find it odd that being attractive to men has involved some degree of discomfort or pain in cultures all over the world. Even straight up purposely-caused deformities have been considered desirable.

Some men enjoy what they do for the shape of the calf.

Not everyone is so focused on the height thing.

Is it weird that I dont find them sexy? Because I feel like the point of them is because guys are supposed to find them sexy.

But Im not one to give a crap about fashion and stuff anyway tbh. A hot girl is a hot girl regardless if shes wearing a revealing dress, sweats, sportswear, sneakers, high heels, whatever.

Every woman I know who wears them enjoys wearing them and likes how it makes them look taller. Women who dont like wearing them simply dont wear them.

Ive never known a dress code that pushes women to wear them. I could see it happening 50 years ago, but Ive worked in offices where a suit and tie is mandatory for men, and high heels were never required for women (nor was it ever hinted that it was desirable).

They add to a sense of "class" or "elegance". A nice dress and heels can be a really striking look.

And even if they don't fall, wearing heels regularly causes back problems.

It's a hard question. It is completely up to the woman on if they wear heels or not, but with how common they are, you cannot deny that there's a significant cultural pressure and expectation to conform. Men have no equivalent. If ties caused long term physical harm then they wouldn't still be a thing.

If you are insisting they wear them yes. If they simply wear them because they want to no. I like the look but not enough so I would expect it cause I understand they aren't that comfortable.

Maybe not exactly equivalent to wearing shoes but to suggest men dont have their own insecurities pushed by social norms or media around their appearance is laughable.
