Quick note: I know each area/region is different. What I say may be the opposite/vice versa between the 2 services.

Grubhub have more longer drives, but better pay/tip, and all of the customers were at home folks. Lots in the farming/country side.

Door Dash is more active, but with severely less pay/tip. One trip I did was around 32 miles, for, get this: 50 cent tip. Fuck you. Yeah you, Miss shower cap. But anyways, most of the folks were business/at work customers. The app is way better than GH's.

Thank God I'm just doing this out of boredom. But my heart goes out to the folks that make a living off of it.

Nope. All you get is the total pay for the order. You find out your tip once you deliver it. Heh.

I do it for a living and it sucks. Im in NY and laws passed earlier in the year which took away the option to log on whenever you want. You need a schedule now and without it you cant toggle on. They removed the option to tip upfront so no one really tips anymore. This is all uber btw. I prefer Grubhub since some customers still tip and I can set a limit distance to not have to deliver too far. I deliver using an e-bike.

It really depends. Sometimes there wouldn't be an order coming in, so it's a 0. Sometimes only 1 low one, which can net you $4-5. Then there are times everything be bumping, and you make about $35+ an hour.

how realistic do you think it would be to make an extra 500-700$ a month occasionally doing it around 7-10pm?

Damn, I did door dash for like a month a couple years ago and I could see the tip every time an order popped up. I would have never done it if the tip didnt show up till after.

What's occasionally to you? 1 or 2 times a week? Not a chance. 5-6 times a week, again, it depends. May be as low as $300 or high as 600+.

damn, yeah itd probably be from 1-3 times a week. Mostly just hoping it could pay for the car payment if/when i have to get a new cehicle

if youre in a busy area, or have a busy area near you then its very easy. You could do that Thursday-Saturday and probably easily get $1k-$2k. you just gotta be careful, if you do it a whole lot youll wind up paying a good little chunk for taxes.

youd have it do it a few times a week though, 1 day a week youre probably looking at a couple hundred a month, but again thats if youre in a busy area and make short trips.

The restaurant was 32 miles from the delivery address or 32 miles was involved in the whole trip from where you started? Either way that's a shitty tip but if it's the former, that's extra shitty knowing the distance that's involved.

People who do it full time, 7 days a week, everyday only make around 600-700 a month, even at their best, 900. And you're saying you can make 2 grand only doing it 3 times a week, lmfao. You just gave yourself away.

Did you add coverage to your car insurance or are you risking it? Or do these companies cover you?

I always figured that driving for these app companies couldn't possibly be worth it. Maybe you can make enough to make a living but I think a lot of people who budget out how much they're making aren't also factoring in the wear and tear on the vehicle.

Real close to a very big city. The people you know doing it full time, for that amount, I feel really bad for or youre in a very small town.

Gas can be covered. Plus the companies offer some little quirks here and there. As for maintenance from this, I do not plan on doing it for long. Other drivers, use several other apps along with DoorDash. Ubereats, Uber, Grubhub, Instacart, etc... And in busy areas, they seem to be doing ok.

Lol, youre funny. I cant remember last week and you want me to remember some buttons from a couple years ago? Ill find some proof for you if you really want.

I think youre confusing stuff. People working full time making $600 is wild. Think 40 hours a week, 160 total, divide that by 600 and theyre making $3.75 an hour? So theyre taking 1 delivery per hour? Thats their problem.

That proves absolutely nothing. It only shows that you "may" have done Doordash, and nothing to back up your claims of making 2k for 3 days of work per week. This submission will be rejected in any outlet that would ask you for proof.

Anyways, did some more DD and GH today. Not a busy morning. And I think I'll reject any 9+ mile drives as that would mean getting on the highway, which also means, traffic jams and losing precious minutes/hours on the road. Did only 2 deliveries for GH, and made $25 for about 40 minutes of total work. Not bad I guess, if only I didn't have to pay for gas. Eh.

From what I've read (and this is based on reddit posts), the first few weeks as a driver you essentially get "top dasher" status, giving you priority on the better payouts, but if you can't maintain 70%(?) acceptance rate, you lose that status and start to only see the lower paying deliveries.

Which is kind of shitty, because if you are only seeing jobs that cost you money to take on (gas money), then you are stuck in that lower AR%

True for DD, although I'm already getting the bottom of the tier offers like $3 pay with 1 dollar tip. GH thankfully, isn't like that, as long as you sign up to a block for a certain time period, you'll always get top priority.

Thankfully, I haven't gone through stupid customers yet. But that will likely change the longer I do this. Yeesh.

Drove on Halloween once, guy comes out to grab his food dressed as a slutty bumble bee lol. Probably the only funny delivery I've done

No, it doesn't work like that. I may have made $53 today. But can just make about $20 or way less tomorrow. The higher paid ones go for around $17, but you're required to drive 30-40+ miles, which will just eat up your gas.

the price of gas is up too. used to be 3$ a gallon. all of the gains gone by a few 40 mile drives because they didn't tip the required amount to at least break even.

Yesterday made $55+ with 4 hours of driving. Today around $40 with about 1 hour driving. Saved up around $350 in a week. Subtract $80 on gas. $270 profit. As a side gig for play money, this is pretty good.

I did both during the pandemic and DD can pay pretty good for a side job if youre in a busy market and you come out in the right times
