This seems like something that could be very useful for work purposes.

It will all be tied to your personal profile stored in a database for NSA to keep a file on store for you.

If you got nothing to hide then you shouldnt be worried, right?

99.9% chance before using the feature you have to agree to share the info with Microsoft.

All this does is act like a more specific version of system restore.

I can't think of any real-world situation where I would need to use an exorbitant amount of processing power and data to turn back time on my PC.

Recall wont work with every Windows 11 computer. Youll have to buy one of several fresh new Copilot Plus PCs powered by Qualcomms new Snapdragon X Elite chips, which have the neural processing unit (NPU) required for Recall to work.
There are also minimum storage requirements on PCs to use Recall, as pointed out in the features FAQs page:

The minimum hard drive space needed to run Recall is 256 GB, and 50 GB of space must be available

As if they weren't already. What do you think Chrome, Safari, and whatever other browsers out there do.

This was probably cooked up by the marketing department wanting to know how people use devices but it will absolutely be used for far more nefarious purposes

This is true too. Let's them see computer use behavior trends so they know what features to get rid of in future Windows versions. "Oh only power users use this one critical option in the settings. Get rid of it."

I was only providing you a reasonable real world situation regardless at how slim a chance you'd find yourself in that situation. Most people still aren't educated on how a computer or the internet works. Hundreds of people still fall for the fake "tech support" people remote connecting to their computer everyday.

inb4 Windows 12 requires a NPU in your processor to run

I considered doing this for my game but it slows it down too much.

I also don't know how many dumb development interns fresh out of college mess things up brew installing shit they don't actually need because they didn't listen, so I could see it being useful for going back on that instead of clearing it all and starting over.

I'm so sick of this shit with Windows and Firefox.

Not sure how I feel about officially mandated spyware. Hopefully it doesn't extend to all Windows PCs.

Its for information gathering, probably. They want to track people and sell the info, is my guess
