Do not be surprised if not only Yamcha but literally every single character he has ever voice either cease to exist or get killed off permanently in response to this. That is what Japanese media tends to do with scandals like this.

Maybe others but... dragon ball might be too big to do it there, like how bulma was recast and not retired.

...then again Yamcha is, at this point, a minor character and a bit if a buttmonkey so who knows.

King Kai's original voice actor in Japanese died and they essentially dropped him in Super. They only do recasts in very, very specific situations. Usually the character dies with them or they stop existing in Japan.

What the fuck are you talking about? He didn't do any illegal drugs, so he gets at most a little time-out and his career resumes like nothing scandalous ever happened.

Let's be fair though, they dropped a lot of stuff in Super. Including the multiverse and Super Dragon Balls, both of which were introduced in Super and the latter is the entire point of the series itself.

For what its worth, the "young" fan was in her 30s according to one tweet I saw. Only young compared to the VA who is 70

But King Kai still has voice lines, unless you mean he died quite late into DBS

Yamcha is basically dead anyway. He showed up once every like what, 50 episodes and usually as a gag? They'll probably let him fade away, maybe recast him if they want him in an episode.

They still had him like once per arc. They might have dropped him off as a general utility character relative to what might have been, but it's not like they don't recast characters all the time. Bulma's VA died within a few years of that as well.

Fuck. Nobody gives a shit about Yamcha but this dude also voiced Tuxedo Mask, Seiya, and Kysuke (KOR).

Yeah it was a clickbait title.

Agreed, there's a huge difference between "young" and "younger".

IMO it's still a creepy thing to do with such a huge age gap, but he didn't go after a child like the topic title implied.

He's so old and irrelevant at this point that what little recasting would need to happen will easily be done. Tuxedo Mask was recast in the reboot, so it's not like it never happens even before stuff like this comes out.

Imagine calling him yamcha's VA instead of Amuro's...
