I'd shorten the item acquisition jingle or have it not hold you up. It just awkwardly breaks the flow of the game if you're schmooving through.

The floaty controls. Play SM and then play like almost any 2D Metroid that came after it.

Make it more linear, add story cutscenes with dialogue, get rid of all the bugs and glitches.

Make it so that the Crystal Flash only takes some of your shit and not all of it.

That's already how it works. 10 each Missiles, Supers, and PB's (plus 1 PB to initiate CF.)

Only thing I would fix is jumping out of sand. Otherwise perfect

Just add fast travel between the save points. Otherwise perfect game. The controls are fine. Fusion is the one with garbage controls.

Make Phantoon suck less

I went in with max 5 super missiles (hadn't bothered to go back through Brinstar) and went with missiles and honestly, made it easier.

Hitting him with Supers makes him do the semi-fire circle thing from the ceiling. With missiles he'd just float around

The jumping in sand fall thingies is annoying but, like the rest of the game, still feels rewarding overall

I never felt like the 'item jingle' - a term I've never heard of before this topic - was at all a thing in this game. In LttP I can at least get the argument. Not in though. The progression always feels so well paced, and again, earned. And this coming from someone that plays everything on easy mode

If the items were fewer, it wouldn't be so bad but in some places you can collect like 3 items in a minute and that adds up to like 15-20 seconds of dead time in a minute

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the term 'item jingle' and maybe even the topic in general?
Is this about speed running? If not, I'm... Confused why 20 seconds without a new item is considered 'dead time'

They're talking about the game pausing for a few seconds to play the item jingle whenever you pick up a power up. It adds up when you collect multiple power ups in a short span. It never bothered me, but I can understand the complaint.
