So this heap of junk is about 3 hours from me.

Basically these eccentric brothers who were rich loggers bought a bunch of old ferries and cars in the hopes of starting some type of tourism business. Bit off more than they could chew (Repairing 60+ year old ferries is not cheap), and now all this stuff sits on the Fraser River and collects rust and moss.

Closest city has tried to get them to move the stuff for decades, but they're stubborn old assholes and the spot on the river where it all sits is actually private property (Rare for the area along the river) so they technically don't have to do anything, as they love pointing out to local news.

So ironically it actually has become a minor tourist attraction, albeit they make no money from it and it's technically illegal to go past the gate. They'll occasionally let looky loos take a stroll on the big one if you catch them on a good day. City continues to get pissed off and worry about potential pollution, but as I said they can't do fuck all until these two gooby's are gone or choose to sell.

Anyone else have any nonsense like this around them?

A couple of filming productions have actually happened here, a Flash Gordon reboot and some action movie that allegedly was supposed to star Steve Austin, but neither of them ever made it past pre production.

The brothers who own all this stuff are in their 70's, and the Queen of Sidney (The big one that isn't half underwater), is kind of dangerous. Kids get hurt trying to fuck around over there all the time. Doubt it's feasible, as cool as that would be.

I live about 5 minutes from the Boneyard in Tucson, AZ. Dumping ground for old planes.

Lot of these in southern Arizona it seems. Pinal Airpark over by Marana as well.

I'm about 45 minutes away from where this awesome abandoned orphanage called Woodmen's Circle used to be. They tore it down a few years back though. Used to sneak in there and look around. Super creepy.
