Not in my lifetime. I work at a power plant where you have to physically walk to specific equipment and turn valves to make adjustments and it needs hands on human interaction to properly start and stop so many things at the appropriate time.
Could it be automated? Sure in theory but the cost would be astronomical that could design a plant where every single valve could be operated automatically and even then you would still have issues that need human hands on the equipment. You need to be able to to look at trend data and properly respond based on temps and pressures before there is an issue. It needs constant watching and interpretation for the correct action to take. It's something I'm simply not concerned about. --- PSN ID: sled_dogs76 60" Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO151FD, Yamaha RX-V3900 A/V Receiver, Oppo DV983-H player. As a school psychologist, I could mayyybe see some aspects of the special ed evaluation process being handled by AI (I certainly wouldn't mind not having to write all those fucking reports), but I feel like the clinical judgment in eligibility decisions is important enough that people wouldn't wanna leave it up to machines. I definitely don't foresee kids wanting to talk to an AI rather than a human for emotional support, nor do I imagine schools would feel safe entrusting suicide/threat risk assessments to an AI so I definitely feel safe in that aspect.

No corrections require the human touch. Maybe we get robots to handle riots and such. But you can't have something just cold and calculating handling inmates 100%
I think we are a long ways off from a AI being able to recognize one guy out of 100s is acting unusual compared to most days and talk to them possibly preventing a situation from occurring. I get the feeling AI would mostly be reactive instead of proactive in a correctional setting Also if in a robot body inmates would tear it up. Only reason human guards ain't killed daily is cause while criminals they ain't monsters. Cause let's face it if the inmates wanted all guards dead they easily could pull it off. But a robot? Nah they'd fuck with it hard. Cover up it's cameras disable it from moving etc. Edit: and even if we had a AI that came across as compassionate and could talk to them it wouldn't be thr same as a human doing it --- I put my heart and soul into my work and I fear I have lost my mind in the process ...
