SAN ANTONIO (WOAI/KABB) Ben Mostyn, a Republican candidate for the Texas House of Representatives, was arrested this week in San Antonio.

The San Antonio Police Department reported that Mostyn, who is running for House District 117, was taken into custody on Wednesday following a crash on Interstate 10.

According to court records, Mostyn faces charges of driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon. The incident has cast a shadow over his campaign as he prepares to challenge Democratic incumbent Representative Phillip Cortez in the upcoming November elections.

Considering he's running against an incumbent Dem it's not likely this helps him win the election, even if it's true that Republicans are totally in love with supporting criminals now.
