Liking or disliking the song itself, ironically or otherwise, is completely irrelevant to liking the scene in question. The scene is a greater than the sum of its parts scenario.

It wasn't irrelevant for me at all, I actively dislike the song and I didn't feel like it worked there - even as a deliberately unfitting choice - but who knows. Maybe I needed to mentally tune into Deadpool humour first.

Yeah but I didn't for most of the rest of the movie, so it's not just "I hated the song".

Kinda? I might have just missed the humour in that specific instance, and that's fine. I took a bit of umbrage with "completely whiffing on deadpool humour" when like, I spent the rest of the movie quite enjoying "deadpool humour".

I dunno, this is a silly nitpicky thing now.

The lyrics honestly are very well-subverted by the scene, both in the moment and as the movie progresses. It's pretty clever.

At least it was clearly meant to be funny unlike at least half the fight scenes in the previous movie.

Deadpool 2 just took me back to the era where professional critics would seemingly cream their pants over movies I only found okay to decent.

I honestly think this might be it. Cause I was kinda in a weird place at first too. I wanted to watch the first 2 immediately before but I wasn't able to.

Yeah since I've seen all three within the past year. I also find it interesting how the MCU seems to be increasingly relying on fanservice for older comic book movies and popular properties like Spider-Man and the X-Men.

New Agatha All Along trailer. Now THIS is the trailer they should have put out first. It's so much better than the original in every way. They presented it as a show you can actually be interested in. It may actually be good! It at least has a good premise!

Still not totally sold on the show, but this might be a similar problem I had with The Acolyte. Witch stuff doesn't really interest me.

I don't dislike witches as an idea but watching that I think I just don't think I want MCU style humor anywhere near witches. You either gotta go completely absurdist or completely straight-- the middle I'd probably just find annoying (not caring for Agatha in Wandavision didn't help either I'm sure)

I stand by Hawkeye actually being the best Disney+ show. I think it was the tightest in terms of a narrative, characterization and weaving the line between connections to the MCU and also being standalone. I'll admit that I'm a huge sucker for the street-level heroics in Marvel over all other forms of superheroism, however. Unlike in DC where I think there are pockets of every sort of storytelling that work well, I tend to feel like the large things get in Marvel, the easier it is to simply not care.

The only true miss of the shows so far is Secret Invasion, but what a miss it was. Although only Wandavision, both Lokis, Hawkeye, and She-Hulk I would call great.

I think most of the MCU TV shows have just been forgettable at the low end but I think Secret Invasion was worse than just being bad on its own; it made Nick Fury's character as a whole look worse and retroactively tarnished several aspects about him and SHIELD.

Indeed, Secret Invasion is comfortably the worst thing Marvel Studios has ever made by quite a lot!

I thought Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye were the best shows, but still with significant problems.

Secret Invasion was the only show where the filler is the good stuff and everything else is oh no. I actually watched everything but the last episode.

I logged out to see what Ulti wrote..tbh I thought it was interesting to seeing Hawkeye from the perspective of a literal fangirl given his memetic loser reputation but I guess I must just not be following the MCU terribly closely because every instance of supposed character assassination has gone over my head.

I'm actually... a little bit more excited about MCU now after these trailers?

Agatha All Along looks like it might be a fun departure from the norm.

Captain America 4 I think will still probably suck but is bound to have awesome fights at the very least.

Daredevil with the classic suit? Sign me up. It seems like it has a lot of things people appreciated about the original series in it. Honestly, I can't wait.

Ironheart, as the chief Ironheart hater, I thought looked great. Another interesting departure from the norm. Bizarre reimagining of The Hood though. I kinda wish they kept him more like he was in the comics, but maybe this will work out.

I'm at the very least more positive with the MCU now than before, even with the Deadpool morale buff.

ok done it now I still thought it wasn't going to be a direct sequel/continuation even after bringing back same Daredevil/Kingpin/Punisher actors but I completely missed Karen and Foggy news and I DEFINITELY never heard about Bullseye, man... this is great

probably doesn't help that Echo was a day 1 drop so they couldn't prologue anything out of it, but then again I can't imagine waiting for Echo's mid eps week to week

I havent seen the trailers for Captain America but I always thought it has potential. Its coming out in February too so hopefully it can capitalize.

One thing that needs to happen at the midseason finale of Daredevil.

The thing is that they tried to completely reboot Daredevil without the Netflix stuff and then they went back and followed the Netflix series. They literally reshot the entire show with this in mind.

Again, Cap 4 didnt go into reshoot hell, that was a false rumour. It only had the planned 22 day reshoots which is actually short for a Marvel film.

somehow I completely missed any word of that previously so thanks for bringing that up!... again <_<

Oh wow, that looks really good imo

Cap 4 should be good, but maybe moreso it'll be an important foundation for the direction of the MCU. I just hope it does a better job elevating Sam than *everything else Sam has been in*

He was hooked up to a lie detector test and Hugh Jackman asked Ryan is he leaked it. He absolutely did not want to answer (for obvious reasons) but ultimately said that he had made it possible for someone else to be able to leak it online.
