Even the military has restrictions on how much physical activity/training soldiers can do outside when it's above certain temperatures. And it isn't some take a knee then get back at it. It can be as much as 10 minutes of work and 50 minutes of rest.

Like I get that you want your team to be ready for a long, grueling game in the depths of a Texas summer, but if you don't have standards for water breaks and what dictates those, then some kid is going to die.

Certainly sounds like a Texas high school football coach.

I'll bet my account that if somebody showed this to that coach he'd blame their deaths on vaccines.

I maintain the position that the expectations put on high school athletes are absurd and, at best, extremely unhealthy.

If the coach has as many trophies as he says he does, the school might not even reprimand him for fear that he might leave for somewhere else (because high school football is ultra serious business in Texas)

There's a word for dying to the temperature outside. It's called Death By Exposure. Maybe less people die from it that die from Diarrhea but hey it happens.

I think like maybe seven or eight years ago there was that kid from Wisconsin or Maryland whose body temperature hit 104 at practice, which is like brain damage territory and the coach still made him practice

he says "too warm" as if it has any functional distinction from being too hot. like if someone said "but of course people have died from being too hot," and then he'd be like, "ah ah ah, i said too warm, not hot! you can't be too warm!"

Sounds like he's the one who needs theatre camp tbh

We didn't get water breaks at all during practice in football. And even GameDay you only got water if you played some plays. Bench warmers got squat.

My coach did. He didn't run work aside us thr whole time but he was like 60. But no he didn't drink water during practice either. The assistant coach either and he would always run with us cause as he put it if you are behind me you are doing bad.

Sometime in the past 7 years or so I remember hearing a story out of the South where a female HS basketball player died on a hot day during outdoor training. They made her run up and down the bleachers while it was like 90 degrees

We've known for a long time that dehydration is not only dangerous, but also affects mental and physical performance in sport. A coach who wanted their players to perform at their peak would insist they were hydrated.

This guy is so desperate to posture as old school tough, that he is willing to come across as an idiot.

School in general was weird about shit.

Had a kid with asthma but his inhaler had to stay at the front officer. He had a asthma attack during gym and we where out on the football field I was made to run all the way to the officer to get it. That still took like 4 minutes

Never understood why the coach couldn't hold onto his inhaler. During gym class

Most people are "fine" albeit suboptimal at whatever they're doing, until they're not. It can creep up incredibly quickly and absolutely is a medical emergency. It's also really easy to reduce the chances of this happening by simply taking breaks and having water. When we're talking about kids playing games, forcing them to do that in scorching heat without breaks and water borders on reckless endangerment.

There's nothing manly or noble about needlessly putting yourself or others in danger.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that if he himself was forcibly put through what he's subjecting the kids in his care to, he'd either beg to stop or get a drink very quickly, or he'd pass out in the hot sun long before his stubborn, idiotic pride would let him admit that he was dead wrong.

Either way, he should be made an example of, so that other coaches think twice before allowing themselves to copy his stupid and pointlessly cruel policy toward the minors placed in his care.

The funniest part is even ignoring all the idiotic TOUGH GUYS DON'T NEED NO WATER IF YOU WANT WATER GO SPLASH AROUND IN YER PRONOUNS shit, as ai123 pointed it this is just bad coaching. You're getting players who aren't going to be able to practice as efficiently and aren't going to get as much benefit out of the practice as they could. Lots of schools do that I have heard. Some idiotic policy. They think the actual student can't be trusted with their own life saving device. Pretty sure some asthmatic kids have died due to that policy

Meanwhile look at NHL games, nice and cool inside those rinks but what's that? What do those players have while they're on the bench? Why they're often drinking water to keep hydrated. Now imagine if they were in a hot environment, they'd need even more water.

Hydration is pretty much the most important part of sports, if a coach isn't teaching proper hydration to the team then he's a shit coach.

Not only is his class unsafe, it must be very confusing if the teacher banned the use of all pronouns. A lot of those are very useful for sentence structure!
