So some people are placing the interest of their country above their political interests, but not Macron himself.

Something tells me Macron actually prefers for Le Pen to win than NFP. Pretty much Obama trash talking Bernie Sanders.

Let's hope Macron's own voters stick it to him by voting for the NFP.

The argument I've seen is Macron wants the far right to win here so they're forced to shoulder the blame for negative events up until the presidential election. The presidential race isn't until 2027.

Given the choice between fascism and socialism, many centrists and supposed liberals will always side with fascism.

The other issue is that Macron doesn't want his Politicans to give up.

This would simply implies that they have no chance and no political power on their own, and can only rally under another party. He has to be number 1. Always. Everywhere. He would have no problem if the left wing would follow under him.

Macron wants to playing chicken, and he has no intention to lose. Even if this can cause the crash with the right side winning.

It at least allows the voters to vote for a small party first without literally wasting their vote.

I think the issue of "I would like to vote X because I agree with them most, but I have to vote Y for strategic reasons" is a big problem in many elections.

At least with the first vote people can show some potential and support for other parties.

I totally agree, but when the runoff has 3 people, that problem doesnt go away.

This is why the US has 2 parties, because a 3rd party is always why another wins.

People like Netanyahu wouldn't be in power if there were simply 2 parties, because one party would be full of fascist fucks.

It works in the US because many in this country want a fascist regime due to 'free speech'.
