Would you have save Ellie like the game makes you, or would you let them use her to find a cure? The fireflies aren't a good organization. They aren't some saints that would use the cure to help people. They're pretty much a terrorist organization that had been known to bomb innocents. Letting them have the only known cure would only give them power. Also there was no guarantee it would have worked and they may have killed Ellie for nothing. Would the possible existance of a cure be a good thing? Sure. But it shouldn't be owned by the fireflies. Besides it wasn't like they were asking. They never gave her a choice. They never let Ellie make her own decision and give her a cahnce to say goodbye to Joel. They tried forcing him away at gunpoint. They forced his hand. --- Your face looks like I need a beer. ... Save Ellie, every time. There's no point in a cure because the world is beyond hope regardless. Imagine the infected all just disappear instantly. You still have these problems:
- 60% of the world's population is freaking dead. - The military is the only remaining portion of the US government, and to all appearances just another street gang. - Literal anarchy virtually everywhere. - Virtually every manmade structure and infrastructure needs to be demolished and rebuilt. - The economy amounts to bartering if you're lucky and more commonly i kill u and take it. Never mind that the fireflies are one of the most mustache twirling villain organizations in all of fiction and you'd be giving them the mother of all bargaining chips to gain power. Literally the best thing they can do is what they did: Abandon the world at a macro scale and find a community that's rebuilding small. --- There's a difference between canon and not-stupid. ... The chance to even try to potentially find a cure for humanity is immeasurable against the life of any single human being. That is true but not when it would be terrorists holding the only cure. tbf, I think that people are thinking in the short-term.
let's say the cure works, and the Fireflies, a terrorist organization, has the only access to it - yea, that's going to suck for what, a few years? 10-20 years? even if it leads to some shitty, fascist government (they already have one with FEDRA), once people don't worry about having to turn into zombies, they can kill off the remaining zombies, then they can work towards having revolutions, and stuff like that. ...I still choose saving Ellie, though. --- "I could never encapsulate all my cosmicality on my own." - mr.
