They would be considered null votes, as you have to write a a) registered write-in candidates name or b) a distinct name (depending on the state) to count. The presidential election would thereby have no valid votes cast, which means that electors would not have been chosen, which in turn would lead to a contingent election in the House for President and Senate for Vice President.

tl;dnr - your mom would lose.

What if the House and Senate also vote for Your Mom?

That's correct.

It's similar to hypothetical scenarios wherein massive amounts of people write in for someone that isn't eligible. Back when Trump appearing on ballots was in question, some figured it wouldn't matter because people would just write in votes for him. If he was deemed ineligible, all the write-in votes in the world wouldn't matter. You can't elect someone ineligible. Likewise, you can't elect my son via write-in votes, you can't elect Santa Claus, and you can't elect someone that isn't native-born, no matter how many people try.

I bet you anything there is a "Your Mom" registered in the US citizenship and SSN records. First name "Your." Last name "Mom."

There's a "Beezow Doodooo Zoppitybopbopbop" for crying out loud.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

While true, "Your Mom" is a generic enough phrase that equating it solely to one person, unless said person is very famous, wouldn't fly.

For instance, if a "John James Jacob Jones" changed his name to "None Of The Above," they wouldn't suddenly get votes cast as such allocated to them.

That raises a (slightly more serious but equally irrelevant in practice) point. Let's suppose hypothetically, a write-in "Joe Bloggs" wins. How exactly do they determine *which* Joe Bloggs people were voting for?

Hence why most states have registration requirements for write-in candidates.
