If you were to do 7,000 steps per day and climb 7 floors of steps per day, would that be enough to keep you at a healthy weight if you ate the usual 2000- 2500 calories per day? Im purposely excluding any weight lifting even though that would be include in reality. Im trying to keep it as simple as possible.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Im really ignorant on this stuff.

Yes, walking is a great way to stay in shape especially for those just beginning exercise/ fitness. I believe 10,000 steps a day is the recommended daily amount of steps for an adult. The key is consistency. Since walking is a low intensity workout you may not see results as fast as other workout routines, but trust me it is helping with your overall health. Combine that with a healthy diet and you should be good to go. Good luck!

If youre already a healthy weight, sure. If youre not, you may need to cut out some calories or add a whole lot more exercise to lose weight.

Also, stay away from scales and do not hyperfocus on your weight. Depending on your current health and weight, if you start consistently walking you should notice you start to feel better physically before you notice the lbs start to come off. You may notice you have more energy, sleep better at night, etc. Use THAT as motivation to continue, and eventually the physical benefits will come along as well. Just don't get discouraged

This is great advice.

Being a former athlete that flopped around between disciplines, my body has gone through some pretty major changes over the years. Ive had people congratulating me on losing weight or on bulking up when my weight has actually stayed exactly the same and Ive just changed what its comprised of or where its concentrated.

I wouldnt go so far as to say dont worry about the number on the scales at all, but most people definitely put far too much emphasis on it.
