I guess it's all Texans' fault they didn't try hard enough to overcome massive voter suppression, up to and including a county with 5 million people and greater in landmass than the state of Rhode Island only having ONE ballot dropbox for the entire county.

Yeah it gets incredibly frustrating sometimes. I swear a lot of people legitimately think Texas is just a rural field with racist cowboys, despite houston being one of the largest cities in the country.

Honestly, I have yet to see any Texans effectively dissuading or outright preventing people from voting Republican.

Republican margins in Texas have been shrinking since at least 2014. Abbott won by 11 points in 2022, which was down from 13.3 points in 2018, which in turn was down from 20.4 points in 2014. Cornyn went from winning by 27.2 points in 2014 to only winning by 9.6 points in 2020. Cruz went from winning by 16 points in 2012 to only winning by 2.6 points in 2018. Tarrant County, the state's third largest county, went blue in 2018 for the first time since 1964.
Abbott's margins in the suburbs have consistently shrunk every cycle since 2014. Here are some exit polls:

Suburbs went 62% for Abbott.
2018: https://www.cnn.com/election/2018/exit-polls/texas
Suburbs went 59% for Abbott.

people also really underestimate how institutionalized the entire texas public education system is. I managed to breakout of the bullshit, but many never do.

I knew they were losing ground in the suburbs but never saw these numbers. If the republicans continue to lose support in the suburbs this rapidly, they're cooked.

The most annoying part is we have to hear this constantly after every natural disaster or tragedy in Texas. And it's like, I'm pretty sure 80-90% of the Texan CE posters here vote blue, yall don't have to blame us when we're trying to survive extreme heat or extreme cold without power, or a hurricane, we already know.

At some point, society has to take responsibility for the people they elect. Not all voters are innocent.

I feel like this is just an excuse, if its harder to vote in a red state grass roots community blue voters HAVE to be diligent in getting the people to change their votes. That includes educating the red voters.

Look to Georgia to see how they did it and follow suit.

Texas gets little to no support from the DNC. If Texas had a massive GOTV effort, like what Stacey Abrams did in Georgia in 2020, Texas could change.

Texas is more winnable for Democrats than Florida at this point. And as I've said MANY times, Texas has the worst voter suppression in the country.

When I post about voter suppression efforts in Texas, I'm not trying to discourage people from voting. I'm pointing out that the problem is more nuanced than Texans simply choosing not to vote.
