There's a point to be made that, despite saying you don't support it, you are saying that people arguing against it are being "overdramatic" and "dogging" you. We made our arguments against it, and you refused them and said we're being overdramatic. That comes off as support, even if you didn't mean it that way.

No.

"Typical CE, while sometimes accurate, is lazy thinking. It's a rubber stamped thought.

Initially, three people disagreed with you but didn't outright attack you for it. You yourself already admitted that the motive for mandatory military service is extremely suspect considered who exactly wants it.

So why is your argument "Well maybe it will make people less likely to be warhawks" when you already know those types are the least likely to be forced into it in the first place?

People jumped on you because you continued to argue for the merits of forced military service, despite already knowing how it would likely be used in America. It working out relatively well in other countries is irrelevant when, if the gop get their way, ours will be ran by a fascist.

And apparently youve never been in the military long enough to grasp the politicization that occurs at higher levels when it comes to rank progression.

but Im sure youll ignore this and go on some other dumbass tangent that exposes your lack of knowledge on certain issues.

Hey is this you arguing almost the exact opposite of what you're now trying to say in this topic? Just wondering, since you were arguing against somebody arguing soldiers will disobey orders they find unjust...

Im curious as to what you think the distribution of age and rank is across the entirety of the services, and the differences that occur when certain long-serving individuals are required to make decisions as opposed to the general rank-and-file. But Id hate to interrupt your meltdown.

Perhaps it is, but that's irrelevant to the response you gave being the easy, non reflective answer.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Because you tried to explain why in some cases it may not be so bad. That makes it look like you're trying to downplay the terribleness of it. Perhaps that wasn't your intent, but that's how it was seen.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

...

If I was trying to intentionally misconstruct your argument, why the hell would I attempt to reach out to you? Yes there are poor people who are warhawks, but the loudest pro-war types tend to be the ones who are immune to the draft.

Or too old for it. Poor people in general though are largely not going to have a taste for war because they know they're much more likely to be dragged into it.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

The point people are making is that it shouldn't happen period. You're trying to find silver linings on something people are 200% against. Even the silver lining you stated would involve people dying. The wealthy rarely suffer as much during war. Not unless people are dragging them out of their homes.

But there are other countries that have mandatory military service such as Switzerland and I think Sweden?

And wouldn't military service during peace time end up just being people doing boring base tasks the majority of the time?

Obviously the question is, what about during war time.
