Damn. That is unfortunate.

Crash 4 was super hard and the character choices were pretty bad. It was disappointing but I thought it did sell well.

I mean, Crash being an actual decent game without a full overhaul?

Yeah. Banjo Kazooie 2 and Donkey Kong 64 would be better inspirations for a try at a new game.
At least those ones had some long play value, annoying as it was in addition to being fun during the more fun parts of the games.

If Crash 5 was like 4, we won't miss much. If it was like 2 or 3, then we missed out.

right about not in a fun way, they tried too hard to hide items, and the levels were too long. I felt stretched to my max 100% crash 1/2, Im not willing to work harder than that

This tbh. Crash 4 had a few decent levels (Off Beat in particular might be the best level in *any* Crash game), but yeah, a lot of flaws in the design. It felt like they didn't really get what worked for Crash, much like most other non-ND devs.

The one dev that I think did really get it was Vicarious Visions. Huge Adventure and N-Tranced, as well as Future Tense, are proof of that. If anyone should be handling a new Crash game, it's them.

I don't even understand why they do this. They spent all that money for 3 years just recuperate no money at all. Even if it was a flop they would have at least mitigated what was lost.

Enter the Dragonfly is one of the glitchiest games ever released. Its broken and ugly, derivative and nonsensical, slow and not in any way an enjoyable experience.

Sony NEVER owned Crash or Spyro. They were owned by Universal. And both Naughty Dog and Insomniac stopped making Crash and Spyro games before they were acquired by Sony.

I think Crash 4 is probably the best Crash game ever released. Sure the levels were long, but since they were quality levels, it meant more quality content. They did go overboard with the boxes, and hid some boxes too well, but that doesn't detract from the gameplay. I'd try to get 100% boxes, but if I couldn't find one I'd just look it up. The difficulty was perfect imo, it really felt like an accomplishment when I beat the levels thanks to that.

I've never played that game myself, but I've heard they went WAY overboard on the requirements for a full clear. Like you have to play every level a minimum of 8 times, and that's only if you're perfect and don't die on any of them. The current world record for the 106% speedrun is 6 hours and 38 minutes. That's longer than a lot of RPG speedruns.

toys for bob just isn't right for crash. i do hope they get to continue work on spyro, though

A Crash MOBA? I'm...not sure I've even heard of this game. MAYBE once when it was first announced? And apparently it was online only and shut down in less than a year? What the fuck? Couldn't even leave a LAN option for the poor souls who actually bought it?

I only really trust Naughty Dog with this franchise. Wish they would take it back and give TLoU a rest for a bit.

I'm rather sure most who worked on Crash are no longer at Naughty Dog, if they worked on Crash it would be a interactive movie at this point.

The article just made that up based off a Twitter post

there is no substantive proof of anything other than that Crash 5 was at one point a thing and now it is not

actually there isnt even proof of that. It just offhandedly mentions the crash 5 that never was

Crash 4 went a little too crazy on the difficulty and collectibles

Crash 4 was unironically one of the worst games ive ever played
Far too punishing, not respecting your time, and demanding perfection from you, but not offering it in return was one of the biggest gaming slap in the faces ive ever received

Crash Bandicoot 4 was a real pain in the ass alright. i couldn't even finish the main story playthrough let alone achieve completion...

i like challenging games but Toys for Bob went too far!

They didn't recycle the levels. The themes, yes, but the levels are original. Aside from the jump to 2D, a necessity for the platform, they really felt like proper Crash games comparable to the original trilogy. That isn't something I can say about any other non-ND games; Wrath of Cortex and Crash 4 came close but they were both a bit off in their own ways.

To add with the crap about Crash 4, to get the highest percent, you had to also break all boxes in a level without dying. Now, that isn't a bad thing (if we were talking about Crash 1)...but when you have levels where boxes are literally off screen, floating behind the background WHILE over a cliff, and then having the nerve that the later levels have too many boxes hidden is dumb.

The levels where you are riding on the alien creature, that level can screw off because the end spot, sometimes the wind won't carry you on the platform that has boxes on there, resulting in a death.
