I didn't think he'd do the first debate with Biden because there wouldn't be an audience, but I was wrong in that. No idea how things could possibly go at this point.

I want to see this. Even though it would just be typical Trump stammering word salad for every answer, I want to see Harris powerbomb him through a table.

Trump will chicken out.

If you, in an alternate universe or whatever, were a Trump advisor, would this be your advice? To not debate her?

I'm genuinly asking, what's worse for Trump, showing he's afraid, or performing poorly at a debate?
Probably doing poorly at a debate because you can make up excuses not to show up.

He's already demanding that it be shown on a "fair network like FOX News" otherwise it'll be rigged.

Which is funny because that last debate was already rigged in his favor by not having the moderators do their job and shut him up when he got off topic.

Trump has to back out. If he debates Harris, he will no longer be able to hide his incoherent way of speaking behind Biden's gaffes.

The biggest advantage Trump had so far is not explicitly reminding people of who he is, with not being on twitter and the media paying attention to Biden's mistakes more so.

One important thing to consider in this matter: Who will be the moderator for the debate?

Everybody knows Kamala will thrash Trump in a debate and everybody knows Trump will leave as many questions unanswered, and lie as much as he can about things easily Googled.

The Moderator(a movie Id like Jason Statham to star in) will be a key factor.

They'll debate and Trump will do what he always does which is not shut up the entire time and generally try to derail the proceedings, steamroll over the moderators, and basically stall for time as long as possible to not have to provide any answers requiring substance. Harris will probably do fine but not well enough for everyone to consider the race over.

Honestly, anyone who thinks he won't show up are wrong. He craves attention so he will show up.

Although I do find it funny that his craving attention and actually showing at the first debate after acting like he would bow out led to a pyrrhic victory.

Accept a debate with her but only on ridiculous terms where the moderators and the format are extremely favorable to him. Insist that this is only fair for biden dropping out last minute. Then call her out for refusing to debate.

Thats probably whats going to happen.

I am not voting for Trump but I believe he can easily win the audience over (even if he loses the debate) by being louder than her and using the Gish Gallop. Tons of people don't recognize it and tend to notice that the opponent cannot adequately defend against it

Will he accept a debate with Harris? I assume the debates scheduled (I think it was just one) is effectively void and I doubt he'd agree to do it anyway with Harris in Biden's place or schedule a new one with her.

He's going to refuse a debate on every possible front.

They're likely going to try (and fail) to run with this "she's not eligible! Biden is supposed to be the one on the ticket!" thing in order to sow just enough chaos with uninformed voters.

And don't forget the questions about her citizenship /s. But really it would be smart of him to debate because no one seems to listen to what he says. Just that he talks a lot and is loud

Show up, talk over her constantly, don't let her get any momentum or make any points. Just keep your bullshit rhetoric and project, interrupt, lie lie lie lie lie.

I'm genuinly asking, what's worse for Trump, showing he's afraid, or performing poorly at a debate?

The latter.

Right now the consensus (mostly from people who didn't watch it) is that Trump "won" the first debate and Bidens performance was so bad that's why he ran away in fear of Trump.

Trump doesn't want to risk losing that image by being slapped around.

The thing is, Trump supporters don't care. They're gonna vote Trump either way. But the "They're both as bad as each other" crowd of idiots who could vote either way will see Trump no showing the second debate as being afraid of Harris.

His supporters dont truly buy what hes saying either lol. Hes a means to what they believe will be an ends to the opposition. If his supporters truly believe his lies, they wouldnt be the first to move the goalposts when you engage. They wouldnt respond to arguments out of context. They wouldnt deflect to Hunters crack addiction when Trump is the topic. People who truly believe their own bullshit would fully engage and try debunking everything rather than play mind games before running away.

In short, every lame playing make believe still has their subconscious whispering the truth to them. Thats why theyre quick to get defensive and avoid transparency.

Exactly this. Trump can talk so much that Harris barely gets to be heard and if she does have a moment to respond she can't possibly address all of the arguments. Doesn't even matter if the arguments were good or not. The Gish Gallop works. There is no way to defeat it when talking to a large audience that isn't familiar with the tactic

Hes either going to avoid the debate or do it in a setting where its completely 1 sided for himself (which hes already trying to do). And if she agrees to the latter, hes going to be as loud as possible when she tries to make a point and the biased moderator would let him get away with it.
